Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

Rocky Mountain Way....Joe Walsh

San Francisco Girls....Fever Tree

Sunday Night....Savoy Brown

Blue Collar Man....STYX

Back Door Man....Howlin' Wolf

Cities On Flame With Rock And Roll....Blue Oyster Cult

Madison Blues....Fleetwood Mac in Chicago

Barracuda....Heart

Smoke On The Water....Deep Purple

Green River....Creedence Clearwater Revival

As you can tell I like the older stuff, but Joe's music reminds me of the old rock and roll.

Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

Excellent! Nice to know many people share my many favorites! But speaking of Blue Oyster Cult, what about ME262 (live-ok it could be irritating to some as it nears conclusion) & Buck's Boogie?!

I'm with Michele & you Carl at the Hotel California, but what about One Of These Nights by the Eagles?  I always found that one quite interesting to my ears!

Not the most technically challenging solo ever, but just seems to be well-written and pass the test of time:

Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

Hello all.  I'm Don, a long time reader, big fan of Joe that doesn't post very often.  Good to see Jane and Carl at the Baltimore Frank Marino show over the weekend.

An awesome solo that's somewhat obscure.  Rick Derringer, Slow Moon Rising.  It's on a various artist album called Guitar Speak that was released in the late 80's.  Lots of other good stuff on there too, Alvin Lee, Montrose, Eric Johnson.

It seems like something from Michael Schenker belongs on this list too.  To me he was one of the best at creating and playing interesting solos back when UFO was in their prime.  It's hard to pick one though.  Just add the whole UFO "Strangers in the Night" CD.
