Topic: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

Thought I'd move this to Other... Sonny Landreth will be playing at Fitzgerald's? Thursday night, Walter Trout at HOB Friday...That's all I know for now....

Re: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

Just a heads up Cathy, there is some work under way to get Eric to jam with Buddy at Legends that week.  Don't have tickets for Crossroads but that would be worth the trip just to see them jam.

Cathy,
I added your party of 4 to my reservation at 8:30 for the Walter Trout show. That should be enough time to eat before the show!!

Re: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

Thanks Bob! Should be a good warm-up for Saturday!! Cathy

Re: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

I hope to go to Crossroads, unfortunately the only way I can attend is if my band wins the crossroads battle of the bands competition.  I would love to play there, not to mention see my idols Clapton, B.B., Buddy Guy, John Mayer, Derek Trucks, Doyle Bramhall II, Jerry Douglas, John McLaughlin and all the others!  Check out the page at playcrossroads.com/thesauce .  If you like what you hear, please click the "vote" button and open the confirmation e-mail and send us to the festival.  Regardless, to all attending, have fun! Enjoy that amazing day with all those brilliant musicians.

thanks!  The John McLaughlin that will be there is the jazz/fusion guitar giant who played in Miles Davis' Band, Tony Williams Lifetime, Mahavishnu Orchestra and Remember Shakti.  I know there is another guy with the same name, pop/rock stuff, but he spells his first name "Jon".  He's probably the one who opened for Jonny Lang.

Re: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

A new website is up for the Crossroads II festival.  Some new additions, Johnny Winter and Bill Murray?

LOL-ler-tastic.

Re: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

Tyler is a young kid from Texas, good roots player . Where was Joe at Crossroads?  There is another great young player Patrick Droney.

Re: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

Welcome to the forum Blueslvr....Thanks for bringing this thread back up. When I got to Crossroads, I entered into the guitar village. Tab Benoit was on the small stage there and in the final jam this "kid" with "Tyler" on his strap was really getting down! I'm so glad to find out who that was..As for no Joe..My opinion..it was a Fender event, with a few exceptions (like B.B.King). Joe plays everything, but he has some "deal" with Gibson right now if my memory is correct. LOL! RollingStone has a nice write up and pictures available at rollingstone.com/crossroads.............Cathy

Re: Chicago Crossroads 7/28

He has great straps, seems like a nice kid. Patrick talks about him on his web too. They both seem like great kids. That Droney, he has an amazing story www.patrickdroney.com
Nice to see new blood out there too.

These are absolutely, positively awesome photos from Crossroads.  Go to musicology, then Crossroads.  Great shots of Winwood, Clapton, Buddy, Jeff Beck etc.  Photographer is another JB, never came across a JB I didn't like!

Thanks for the link Angela, those are some amazing pictures.  I wouldn't mind a couple of those up on my wall in my pub.
