Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

The thing I like about this question is that I get to hear about guitar players I never knew before, and I'm reminded of some I haven't listened to in awhile that i need to get back out.  Thanks Stu for that Andy Timmons link...i saw him a long time ago, but I think my tastes have matured somewhat? I used to not like solos without lyrics, but now i do, if they are like that one...I'm a little embarrassed to admit all that, but maybe some of you can relate? Or maybe its a chick thing?

Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

It's not a chick thing 'cause I'm definitely a chick and have always been drawn to the guitar soloes(sp?)..I never got too much into lyrics..but there's no right or wrong..it's just what "gets" to you. I agree, this is a list of powerful stuff. Since I'm into them right now, my favorites are Aynsley Lister's "Need Her So Bad" and the Hoax's "Don't Shake My Hand" and it has to be said..ANY Joe...

Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

That Andy Timmons solo "gets' to me...what about something like Tommy Bolin's solo on Savannah Woman? That get to anyone besides me?

Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

Not the most technically challenging solo ever, but just seems to be well-written and pass the test of time:

Ending solo - Hotel California - Eagles

Re: Favorite Songs w/Guitar solos

I can hear it in my mind's ear, Carl...ahhh test of time indeed...Speaking of perhaps not challenging, but...I have to bring up Commander Cody & His Lost Planet Airmen's "Lost In the Ozone" with 2 solos, one by the West Virginia Creeper (pedal steel guitar) and the other by Billy Kirchen
