Topic: State of Rock? 2011 Review.

I found this scathing synopsis quite laudable. Of course, no mention of BCC. http://www.nytimes.com/2012/01/01/arts/ … velle.html

who? Of course the key word here is "mainstream", something someone thought they could sell a shyteload of to idiots that will buy anything if deemed popular. Thank God because of Joe and others we know better and will not have it shoved down our throats. Who were they again? It is sad, but dammit bring on that Journey and Foreigner reunion tour. lol

You meant laughable I hope!  Just love a N.Y. writer telling me it's a down year cuz U2 and Bruth took the year off.  And the Foo Fighters this year's saviors?......give me a break.  Those posers ought to listen to my thumper Leroy to hear real rock'n'roll.

This had me rolling Curby; suspicions confirmed! I thought it would be a fun read to see the ms labels get skewered by a pro, and it echoes Jane's lament about ms radio.

Re: State of Rock? 2011 Review.

Interesting article Rick.My musical tastes have always originated from rock.I was more of a fringe blues lover until I stumbled across Joe.Now I tend to favor bluesrock. A band like BCC has made me consider rock or hard rock again.Much like blues and blues rock, the mainstream and major label world has no clue. This atricle embelishes this.I see the best music now as independent's or on the small indie labels. Why older rock fans mostly   only cling on to their handfull of big time bands that are still around, puzzles me.But then again the choices are slim for new good rock.
This forum never ceases to amaze me in bring forth new or not well now artists in the rock and blues world. Its great not have to rely on some clueless label suit to put forth great rock and blues music for the  world.
I would also like to give a shout out to Grooveyard Records and Shrapnel records for keeping rock alive. They are two independents who are filling the void the majors have forsaken. And,most importantly, are doing it well.
