Huh?

Why don't we eliminate all the warning labels and let things sort themselves out?

OK. Got it. Will do my best.

Re: Radio waves...

Sorry to be a downer on the first day of a new year, but I think those days are gone.
It's all about money, which means its all about ratings, which means mass appeal, which means we get more of the other JB (Justin Bieber) and that ilk and very small doses of real talent.
But when the real talent does come on the radio, by all means...turn it up, a little bit higher, radio!

Along that same vein, I found myself thinking last night (amidst an Imperial Porter, single malt scotch and sparkling Chardonnay fog) about how lame Dick Clark's Rockin' NYE show has become. Although I'm not into her spiel, I do understand that Lady Gaga does have some talent. Aside from Blink 182, the rest of the musical acts were no where near what I wanted to see. There was one reggae number that was passible and Jenny McCarthy just seemed to be totally annoying.

In my perfect parallel universe I have Eric Clapton's NYE jam on the wide screen. Sort of like a NYE Crossroads thing where our Joe gets some substantial stage time. Maybe the Mayan calendar does need to run out to make it happen! smile

Major Tom to ground control...

We lost another classic rock station here, not really a big deal since it was the same old playlist over and over. But now we are down to one, with no blues stations at all, and a little jazz every now and then coming out of Samford University's station. I know there is better to be had by streaming or whatever, I will stick to listening to MY music on CD's at work and the PS3 at home. I gotta better playlist than any of them.

Re: Radio waves...

Radio here is sooo diverse now. On our DAB radio, i can pick up around 65 stations, catering to just about anything you could mention. Okay, i live in London , so i guess we're better off in terms of the mix & coverage.

Re: Radio waves...

I couldn't sleep last night, so instead of counting sheep, I took to the web and this is one article I came across about the music biz.  Take note of the line that states how much is paid to the radio station. "Getting the album played on Top 40 radio. Tavel says it could cost up to $250,000 just to get the first single played on radio — special promotions, free merchandise and gifts."
