Topic: Chris Duarte

Chris Duarte played for an incredible 3 hours and 20 minutes last Friday @ Moondog's...
Originally from Autin TX, he now resides in Atlanta Ga....He mixed up his old/new songs & as always he was on fire...smoking that '63 Strat.
He is going into the studio next week to record his next  album.... I can't wait for that release.
If you ever get a chance to see him or with the Japanese band "Bluestone" you should go  because you  will not be disappointed...
He is still one of my favorite players that gives you "bang for the buck" when it comes to playing live and one of the nicest persons you'll ever meet.

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Re: Chris Duarte

I to have seen Chris many times
always gives it his all
great performances
never disappoints
and a great person to talk to

Re: Chris Duarte

Agree with everything said so far. I've seen Chris live many times as well, most recently about a month ago. The thing I like about Chris is how he mixes jazz elements into his playing. I asked him about it last time I saw him and he said some of his major influences are actually the great jazz sax players such as Coltrane, Parker and Coleman.

Re: Chris Duarte

Like Lee, I too saw Chris recently but it was at Shank Hall in Milwaukee and as usual, he blew us all away. I've got a bit of video to share, but have been rather busy. Will try to get at it soon.

One other thing, Chris was taking donations which would be sent directly to the Japanese relief effort. If he still is taking donations, please give.

Re: Chris Duarte

Here's a few videos I captured at his performance at Shank Hall in Milwaukee on April 27th. Probably the only guitarist that I know who can play Blues, Rock, Jazz and Funk all at the same time. wink

Enjoy,

Roy

Re: Chris Duarte

would love to see him live, we have a lot of his music. My son keeps up with Eric Gales other musician buddies, and this past Friday Aaron Haggerty(drummer) posted on FB that Chris was recording out at Prairie Sun studios in CA. not sure if Aaron said he is playing with him, but it does look like another Mike Varney production will be coming for Chris's next one.

You never know what Chris is going to do bluesdeluxe25. He plays a mixture of Blues. Rock, Jazz and Funk all fused into one sound. Most times he loves to improvise during songs and so, sometimes they can last 15 minutes or longer. And during a break he might quote some Shakespeare if you're lucky. wink A very cerebral type of fellow, he once told us about his travels over in Japan living among the people there and watching one particular elderly man in the village. Fascinating to hear Chris talk about it. He may even ask the audience if they have read any good books recently which he did the last time I saw him.

I try and see Chris every chance I get, he always puts on a great show. Next time will be in March if not sooner. smile
