This message has a point about fav guitars...just read on...

My husband and I saw Joe open at "Hot Summer Nights" in Seattle (August 2005) for BB King (Kenny Wayne Shepard was after Joe but he fizzled in the heat of Joe).  We had never seen or heard of Joe Bonamassa before and we were literally blown away!  His live "Blues Deluxe" was HOT and definately got our attention!  After that we bought all of Joe's CDs and we now play Joe at our house daily.

In December 2005, a friend called to tell us that Joe was playing at Jazz Alley in Seattle on December 7, 2005.  We went to the event and we were doubly blown away.  Up close and personal, Joe is beyond fantastic.  We sat right in front of the microphone at this venue and heard every note up close and personal.  We even got the set list which was 6" from my left hand, had Joe autograph it, the whole nine yards!  What a very humble and personable guy Joe is in person too.  The point:  The Gigliotti guitars were so hot, as was the Chandler slide guitar, that I turned to my husband when Joe was playing each one of them and said, "You have got to get that guitar!"  As it stands today, we have the Gigliotti GT (different color though--long story), a Gigliotti GS on order, and we have the Chandler slide.  OMG!  The sound Joe gets out of these guitars in phenomenal!

We have personally spoken to the Gigliotti guitar creator, Patrick Gigliotti, as we ordered a custom Gigliotti GS.  Check out their new headstock at www.gigliottiguitars.com.  It's a Joe Bonamassa signature series guitar and Patrick will make you one exactly like Joe's!  They now come with a plate on the back of the neck that says "Custom Made for so-and-so" with the serial number on it.  According to Joe's website, he is coming back to Jazz Alley in December 2006 (4 nights, 2 shows per night) and we are going and taking our new Gigliotti GS (Joe's signature series guitar) and have Joe personally sign it.

Okay, can you tell my hubby and I are total Joe fans?  I play the keyboards and my husband plays guitar.  We have a blast and enjoy doing this together and seeing greats like Joe play and inspire us to keep on keepin' on!

BadKitty-I love this post...my husband is the guitar player and he has been begging me to take to tickling the ivories again...I don't think I'll be refreshing my piano skills until the kids go off to college...

The Gigliotti guitars are spectacular and I read about the change in headstocks!!!  Patrick is a super nice guy, as well.  As Joe grows in popularity, I see Patrick's guitar demand increasing.

I don't have a Joe favorite guitar and could never decide, they all sound amazing!!!  I love how the grain in woods stand out on guitars and take on different shades, so from physical appearance, not sound, the gold strat wouldn't be my favorite, but nice for variety to have a flashy number!!!

Anything Joe plays is great, but the Gold Sparkle Strat along with his Black Strat have awesome sounds...

Music is good for the Soul...

Re: Your favorite Bonamassa guitfiddle...

OK...looks like I'm the odd ball

my favorite is the Strat from the Signature sounds DVD

sunburst with a rosewood neck

Re: Your favorite Bonamassa guitfiddle...

I could never pick. I'm glad that Joe carries such a good selection of guitars with him on the road. Each has it's own character, and the best thing about them is that we get a great mix of tones, moods and personalities throughout a show. I'd much rather have a Les Paul/Strat/Tele/Gigliotti mix throughout the course of a show, than any one of them exclusively for an entire show!

Joe has a great collection and I love every guitar he lays his hands on.  I do have to say that the historic Les Paul he's been using looks and sounds killer!

Re: Your favorite Bonamassa guitfiddle...

I have to go with the Gold Sparkle Strat. That guitar is most Identifiable with Joe. So if the question of what guitar that Joe has that you would want the most. That would be it.
As far as a favorite to see Joe play. I agree with a previous post. whatever he happens to be playing at the time. The best looking guitar Joe owns. The Gigiliotti's.

Re: Your favorite Bonamassa guitfiddle...

I really like the gold sparkle Strat. Too bad he didn't play it 04/24/2006 in Salzburg, Austria. I want to rebuild it and I was hoping to see some details.
He obviously has covered the body with gold sparkle tape. I already have some rolls of that tape, and I have the correct pinup decal, but I am wondering if he has clearcoated it over the sparkle tape. Does anyone know any details about that?

Joe? If you read that forum, could you give me some details? Clearcoat or not?????

BTW: Thanks for the great concert in Salzburg. I wonder if anyone came to see the Imperial Crowns that night.

The gold sparkle is paint. Done by the Fender Custom shop I believe. and yes it has many coats of Laquer clear coat which has cracked due to extreme temperature changes. good luck.

Yeah, that's normal on alot of well used and older guitars...I love the look...it's what a lot of us guitar players call MOJO baby!

Is the Chandler Lectraslide still in Joe's arsenal?

Re: Your favorite Bonamassa guitfiddle...

That'd be the one! Does he still use it live? I know it's not a super high-end fiddle like the Gigliottis and LPs, but what a nasty perfect tone! Does he ever perform the Rory Gallagher tune he did on ANDY Live?
