Topic: Bad Magic at Mr Kyps

Some of you know that our very own Rus Scagell is in a band called Bad Magic (formerly Colt 45).  And with this change of name comes a change in musical direction.  They used to be a cover band but now write and perform their own stuff so it was with great anticipation that I headed to Mr Kyps last Friday to see them in their very first headlining show under their new name.  And I wasn't disappointed.

These four young guys (Rus has just turned 18 and the others I believe are 17) could show some of today's 'pop rock bands' how it should be done.  We got a hefty dose of rock, blues, anthems ... I also heard a touch of Queens of the Stone Age in one song which (for me) is no bad thing - all performed with extreme competence and energy.   They certainly looked as though they were enjoying themselves.  Each of them has an amazing talent, and combined Bad Magic should be destined for great things.

For Rus I know it was a great honour for him to be treading the same boards as his hero and after his performance on Friday he should feel very proud of himself.

Now, get on and issue that CD!
