Topic: Top 100 guitar players- Jukka Tolonen
Really enjoyed going thru Joe's list of his favorite guitar players. Only saw one name missing and if you have not heard of this guy do your best to check him out. His name is Jukka Tolonen and is from Finland. He was known as the Jeff Beck of Eastern Europe in his day. Sounds funny eh? He was a child prodigy on guitar and piano and was known back in the 70's for putting out numerous records under the Sonet label that demonstrated his genius playing many styles of music including Jazz, Rock, Fusion, and Classical. I discovered Jukka back in the early 80's because a beloved friend of mine/fantastic musician starting listening to him while living in Europe. Jukka is still around as far as I know. He has had some legal issues in the last years and not sure if he is still making records, but he is really worth checking out. Just about anything he did in the 70's was brilliant. Later on his career he seemed to make more pop sounding records. Highly recomend the record Mountain Stream. One of his finest records. Only acoustic guitar and piano. Only Jukka.
