Topic: A slightly different list

In view of recent interest in lists.....I was musing with a friend about how many of the people on recent lists have been either old, or dead.

So, I invite you to come up with your own 10 favorite guitarists who are under 40 and alive! That's the main criterion - for the rest, go with your personal, regional, local, greatest, etc choices. I know that there are many more great young(er) players out there, many of whom I have never heard of. So, if you're listing someone hardly known or even completely obscure, please also post a link to their playing.

I'm sure that we can wind up turning one another on to lots of new thrills!  wink

In no specific order, except #1  cool

Joe B
Ryan McGarvey
Davy Knowles
Derek Trucks

Oli Brown

Re: A slightly different list

I was thinking it's hard enough if they are just "alive", but alive and under 40 is much tougher.
In no particular order:

Eric Gales
Joe B
Lance Lopez
Derek Trucks
Guthrie Govan
KWS
Gary Clark Jr.
Robert Randolph
Ryan McGarvey
Mato Nanji

here's Gary, Joe knows he's a pretty good player.

Re: A slightly different list

Not giving my top 10 as i am bound to piss someone off wink it would be very similar to George's and include Phillip Sayce. Joe would lead it without question.

Well. the young guys are getting older, too. So I trade Eric for Henrik Freischlader (according to Wikipedia 39).

Re: A slightly different list

Well George, I guess you haven't gotten around to seeing Stoney Curtis (yet). I think he's under 40... Don't wait too long - he heads to the UK and then home soon.

Major Tom to ground control...

Re: A slightly different list

Stoney would be on my list. Seeing him soon in london.
