Their album "Strikes" was outstanding. I remember being a little disappointed when I rushed out and bought their follow-up album, Tomcattin' I think it was called. Never much followed them after that, but I still listen to Strikes...in fact it's in my iPod.
Stu do yerself a favor... This smokin little known first effort from Blackfoot was simply awesome!!!

I love Blackfoot ! One of the greatest live shows I ever saw was Blackfoot opening for AC/DC on their "Back in Black" tour !!!! Words cannot describe !!!!!!!
I've got Strikes in my collection, but purchased it just in the last year. Being a huge Skynyrd fan I wanted to go back into Rickey Medlockes past efforts. He was the backbone of Blackfoots early success, at least in my opinion. Rickey was a member of Skynyrd in the early days before they were signed and I believe he was a drummer back then (shades of Coco Montoya). Rickey has appeared recently on his step brother Austin Hanks CD Salt of the Earth and Skynyrd's bass player Ean Evans solo CD. Austin's lead guitar player, Jeremy Ray Valdez has a new web video spin off of 24 @ www.cturookie.com for all you 24 fans out there.

Thank you for brining up this very impornt forgotten and underrated band. I have there Rattlesnake Rock N Roll: The Best Of Blackfoot 1984 cd and it is the best that you can buy if you are buying for the first time and you will not be sorry you did if you like kick **** rock and indian blues.
Seems odd, this thread resurfacing but very appropriate as the VATA lads are about to do a couple of support slots for them here in the UK.
Caught them about 6 months ago when they were last over here and even though there are only 2 original members, they are still an awesome band. Mike Estes is a great, great lead for the band, every bit as good as Ricky Medlocke - think I'm right in saying they've actually swapped places in bands, Medlocke going to Skynyrd.... Don't think there's anything new in their set, but that back-catalogue, despite being 30 years old can still shake the dust from the rafters of any venue. AND, you still get the eerie disembodied voice of Shorty doing his Fox Chase. Had as good a night with them, in a small venue in Gateshead as 30 years previously when they recorded Highway Song "Live" at the Mayfair in Newcastle. They still kick southern fried butt.......
Howay the lads, Howay the lads, Howay the lads, Howay.....

Michael - Blackfoot was 1981 with Slade, BOC, Whitesnake & AC/DC and I haven't seen them since. Good to see them mentioned here as I played the album "Marauder" last week.
