Robin Trower's first two also.
Candlebox - self titled 1993.
according to Wiki it sold over 4 million copies and went to #7 on Billboards album chart. Rush thought enough of it to immediately sign them as opener for the Counterparts tour.

The Outlaws debut is another Southern Rock classic. Green Grass & High Tides Forever!!! My personal favorite is There Goes Another Love Song.
Yes Some good ol southern rock was huge back in the day! Think Green,

Someone mentioned Queen last week that got me revisiting their music and what I re-discovered was how great that first album of theirs was. I remember going into my local head shop/record store in the early 70's and asking a friend about this group with the weird name. When he put the album on and I heard that first song I was hooked....
I also found that I never got around to getting The Cars' first on my computer and got that too. Listening to that one the first time was a jaw dropping moment.
That's two and I'm short on time, but I'd like to hear about others from you all....Led Zeppelin definitely comes to mind too.
I can recall when I heard the first Queen album.A friend had bought it,I had never heard of them, and he said it was real good. He said Hey you want to hear this new band they rock.I said who is it.He said Queen.I thought no way doesn't sound like a hard rockin band. But it won me over from the first listen! LIAR!!!!!!
How about the North Mississippi Allstars Shake Hands With Shorty.
Thought of another one...
Mike Oldfield - Tubular Bells, released in 1973. It was also the first album released by Virgin Records and the start of the company's success.
Also, used as the Soundtrack in the Horror film, The Exorcist brought it to the attention of the masses.
Rockfarmer wrote:Lynyrd Skynyrd's first album (Pronounced) has always been one of my favorites and ZZ Top's first album (appropriately named "ZZ Top's First Album") is also killer.
Different genre, but i also really like and still listen to Billy Joel's album Piano Man quite a bit.
I beat a trail to my nearest record store the morning after I saw Skynyrd open for the Who in November of '73 to get my hands on a copy of Pronounced and began wearing it out.
Think Green,

I'm with you guys on this one! I did the same as you Jdawg after I saw them open for Captain Beefheart! (Honestly - in Wolverhampton also in '73, I think)
Agree on the Outlaws too.
Three other classic firsts in my book were The Doors, Safe as Milk by the legendary Captain, and the Velvet Underground.
First album?
My first thought is: Quicksilver Messenger Service - Quicksilver.
My second album was a second one, Abraxas.

Hey Scott, go delete your other First Albums topic please. I will admit to being an anal retentive perfectionist and it's driving me nuts looking at both.
