Topic: First Albums

Someone mentioned Queen last week that got me revisiting their music and what I re-discovered was how great that first album of theirs was.  I remember going into my local head shop/record store in the early 70's and asking a friend about this group with the weird name.  When he put the album on and I heard that first song I was hooked....
I also found that I never got around to getting The Cars' first on my computer and got that too.  Listening to that one the first time was a jaw dropping moment.
That's two and I'm short on time, but I'd like to hear about others from you all....Led Zeppelin definitely comes to mind too.

The First's that made an impact were Montrose & Van Halen... and to a lesser extent... Kiss.
I agree with Curby regarding Queen's First. I went to College in West London, and came across this great independent record store in the High St, and got to know the staff well over the years. They used to let me know what was new, and what was coming in. Queen was one of those. Like Curby, i was hooked from the first track.
I missed out on Led Zeppelin's First, but caught up after II.
I'm sure there are others....

Boston's First is another one.

@ PSmith1946 - how about Wishbone Ash too? Like Led Zep I, i missed Wishbone Ash's First, but been a life long fan since 'Pilgrimage'

Agree with both Queen and Led Zep, saw both the same year live, how about Wishbone Ash too.

Boston, not bad for a basement studio effort. Only Guns & Roses debut outsold it.

Lynyrd Skynyrd's first album (Pronounced) has always been one of my favorites and ZZ Top's first album  (appropriately named "ZZ Top's First Album") is also killer.

Different genre, but i also really like and still listen to Billy Joel's album Piano Man quite a bit.

I beat a trail to my nearest record store the morning after I saw Skynyrd open for the Who in November of '73 to get my hands on a copy of Pronounced and began wearing it out.

didn't get into Skynyrd until later, but it is a fine one for sure. Like most, bought Zep II and immediately started searching for I.

This Was - Jethro Tull 1968, although Stand Up was the huge UK hit

'Bridge Of Sighs' by Robin Trower is a remarkable first album  cool

Led Zeppelin 1 I was fortunate enough to be introduced to when it came out  cool

The Outlaws debut is another Southern Rock classic. Green Grass & High Tides Forever!!! My personal favorite is There Goes Another Love Song.

Truth by Jeff Beck was one of the first albums I bought. I also bought Queen's first album on the release date as John Peel had been playing Liar a lot. One Saturday afternoon I was listening to Alan Freeman and he played I ain't the one by Lynyrd Skynyrd. As soon as it finished I hopped on a bus to go downtown and bought the album.
