Topic: Marshall Tucker & The Place Where Everybody Knows Your Name

Last night my wife and I attended the farewell of my "Cheers".  It is a family run tavern that changed hands this week - the end of an era.  The two brothers that ran it were both in my wedding.  I drank my first legal beer there in the seventies.  In the eighties it was the second place I went to after I proposed to my wife ( Mom and Dad were first).  In the nineties a co-worker friend from Toronto asked me to take him to my favorite place and he really loved it.  He later returned the favor in spades taking me to his favorite Irish Pub, The Old Sod.

Anyway, for the occasion last night some live music was provided and oddly got better with each adult beverage.  The highlight was a very nice cover of MTB's "24 Hours At A Time".  I had the studio version, but this morning picked up their third album, Where We All Belong, that has an excellent live version of the song.  I'd forgotten how great Marshall Tucker were - the Caldwell brothers, now both gone, were unbelieveable musicians.  Joe should do one of their songs with his buddy Vince Gill.

Here's that sweet live version of TFHAAT....

I forgot.  Another highlight last night - this song was played TWICE with loud audience participation.....

Re: Marshall Tucker & The Place Where Everybody Knows Your Name

One of my favorite Southern Rockers for sure. Saw them countless times in the '70's and even caught up with them @ the local county fair in the mid '90's and they still rocked the place even though Doug & Jerry were the only original members left. Their songs stand the test of time. I have so many favorite Tucker songs, but one from there debut album I'm partial to is Am I Losin' You, couldn't dig it up on Youtube though.

                                                                                                                A Little Chicken Pickin',

Yes it is. Just an indirect Tucker Boys quote.         J Dawg

Kind of sad to see the change in your local Curby. I remember MTB as well. Never saw them live but enjoyed their music.
