Topic: Ian Parker playing London Tomorrow 22.09.11
Haven't seen his name on the forums 'Other Artists' for a while so as a big fan of his this is a chance to plug him further.
In response to some of the comments on the Adele thread - Ian is what live music should all about. He's paid his dues in blues as a bluesman and now is ploughing his own furrow with songs from the heart.
He is playing solo acoustic tomorrow at 'The 12 Bar Club'in Denmark Street, London WC 2.
Maybe the London fans can get out and give some support. You won't be disappointed. OK he doesn't strap on the Strat and blast off some magnificent riffs at these gigs, which only goes to show how multi.faceted he is.
He won't be selling 10 million albums either, but in buying one his you know the money is going to the right place.
Finally, on the Adele thing. My daughter brought the '21' album with her on her last trip. I've heard it through a number of times. I liked it. Like the voice and the singing. As an album it can stand on its own merits.
The problem, as ever, is the media shove it down your throat 30 times a day every day until you are sick of it. Well at least the radio here in Germany does. I guess if the quality of her songwriting remains high she has a chance to hang in there, but the media will move on, looking for its next 'rising star'. I guess if she has already made the dough, it doesn't matter. Shame though, if as an artist, you have to realise sooo early, that your best days are already gone by.
I suppose that is the backhanded slap of being an instant success.
Anyway. Enough of the rant. Get to Ian Parker and make it count!
