Topic: Los Lonely Boys

Going to take my girl out to see one of her favorite bands tonight......at the height of their popularity they played 4 consecutive nights at the Filmore in S.F. and sold them all out fast...they played there last night, and now head to Sacramento State University...there playing in the ballroom, it's good size with folding chairs at the back wall if you choose to sit.....most people are the college kids who really could care less (my personal experience before)....anyhow, seems they faded in popularity....has anyone seen then lately?....they have a "special guest" opening tonight, I would hope that Santana would make the 2 hour drive from his home...my second choice would be "Jackie Green", he's the biggest name around here, he was touring with Phil Lesh and friends playing all them 'Dead" tunes for awhile....so, guess I'll try and shave for this one smile

Re: Los Lonely Boys

Hey Shred, yes I saw them this summer, and they were great. But yes, they have lost a bit of their popularity as previously when they were hot you couldn't get a ticket unless you grabbed them the first day or two. However, I got good seats even a couple weeks before the show.

BTW, if you're looking for something different, and you're tired of Nat King Cole, LLB have just released a Christmas album, "Christmas Spirit" :

Re: Los Lonely Boys

Hey Shred,
I just bought a LLB cd this week and I have to say I rather like it. I like the Latin influence ala Santana and there is some splendid guitar work. One or two tracks are a little over sweet but overall it's a pretty chilled out listening experience.
I hope you enjoy it, let us know what you think.

Thanks Keith and Tripsy.....I'm ready to rock!!....

Re: Los Lonely Boys

Love Los Lonely Boys. Great musicians with great harmonies and a good sound. I love all their albums. Really dig the new one, Forgiven. It's a bit mellow, but I like it a lot.

Re: Los Lonely Boys

Well.........to be honest, I was very dissapointed tonight.....they played a litttle over an hour sad....it took them 40 minutes to wake me up....La Bamba.... then another cover Spencer Davis "I'm a Man" (really great)...... and Heaven were all that did it for me....no "Onda", my favotite tune of theirs...I guess we all have an off night

Shred

P.S....on the way out to the parking lot, my wife and I were walking with a group of 20 or so, and I blurt out loud....... "that was terrible...I've seen theses guys way to many times there better than that...3 good songs!".......some guy walking next to me says..."hey werent you in Reno at the Bonamassa show?"....I didnt even blink, looked him in the eye..."thats right, and there's a picture of me, you and Joe on the forum together"....dropped his jaw, he couldnt belive it.... I recognized him immediately....he was back stage and had Joe sign his beautiful guitar, I just happened to be looking on and watching....so "Andres", if your reading this, go look for that picture now smile

Re: Los Lonely Boys

Sorry the show was a dissapointment, Shred. No 'Onda'! that's a shame. That track is on the cd I bought and I love it. Still, it must have given you a buzz to meet Andres, another Bonamaniac smile
Hope your girl enjoyed it.

I'm glad they sucked Shred that's gonna make tonight that much better Bubba. I'll take BDS over those TexMex schmucks any day, any where, any place. I can't enjoy somebodies music if I have no respect for them as human beings.

thats not cool. I know those guys and they are some of the nicest, funniest guys I have ever had the pleasure of meeting and performing with. Sure maybe they made a couple of mistakes in their lives, but i'm sure you have also.

I do agree that maybe the quality of their music has had a slight downfall since the first record, but no one could ever take the success that first record brought away from them.

well whatever.

i'm still an LLB fan regardless.

and just for future reference, in regards to the context in which you used the word "bra", it should have an "H" at the end.

Re: Los Lonely Boys

A friend of mine gave me a copy of Los Lonely Boys latest realease titled "Rockpango" which came out a few months ago and I have to admit, while I wasn't a big fan in the past, I really like this CD.  It's been 3 years since LLB released an album of original material and I find their self described Texican Rock-n-Roll sound on this album very melodic and quite enjoyable.
Never seen them and don't know alot about them, but I like this CD

Well you may have read my take on LLB, but all I can say is Go Ducks!!! I doubt that LLB will be on your mind come Sat., which can't get here soon enough. Stanford @ 2pm, Cal @ 4PM, & Oregon @ 5pm. What a way to start the season. Who needs LLB!!!

I'm pulling for the Tigers, but I bet on the Ducks (actually since the line was only 1.5 points, i gave my daughters friend a heads up choice and he took the Tigers.  It's only $5, but I'd be happy to lose that one).

Like i said, I don't have a history with LLB, I just know I like this CD

Re: Los Lonely Boys

This band had a great debut and has got weaker with each album every since. That's too bad.

Re: Los Lonely Boys

I respect their desire to place the vocal harmonies above all else as a focal point of the band, but supressing Henry's guitar work was the kiss of death for me.  It could have been great . . .
