Re: How about a little Aaron Williams & the Hoodoo to get you going today?

Appreciate it Rick and Tres, and I know the Guys really appreciate it too! As soon as they can afford it, I've got both of your locations written down for their first stops outside of our region. smile

And Rick, ever since meeting these three young men two years ago, I've been having fun everyday. Must be the "Hoodoo Voodoo" that has me! wink

Mike, it should be avalable no later than on August 16th. cool It will be available on their own website too, but it's not yet even though it's shown under their store.

Re: How about a little Aaron Williams & the Hoodoo to get you going today?

Hey Mike, I tipped off Aaron the other day and told him that when a person clicked on the order button, it came back indicating that you were ordering "It Ain't Easy" their first album instead of "10:49". Aaron told me he sees all the orders and would have arranged to have it filled correctly. Still, he had his web guy correct the error so no one would get confused. Technically, they can't send out the CD until August 16th, but Shirley their manager told them as long as the don't fill them until Tuesday of next week they are OK. Ran into the same thing with Joe when I spoke with him at the meet and greet in Green Bay. I asked if he had any copies of "Dust Bowl" I could purchase and I could tell he had them, but he told me they couldn't sell them yet because it was before the release date. It must be some sort of legal thing.

The party should be a gas tonight and I hope to get some pictures and video. Hey, a guy has to make some blackmail money once in a while! wink

Re: How about a little Aaron Williams & the Hoodoo to get you going today?

By the way, I had a chance to extensively listen to the new CD entitled "10:49" from Aaron and the Boys while driving back home the next day from their CD release party. This album is more that I expected! A tremendous compilation of originals and one cover. Mostly Blues, the stand out songs for me are "Boom, Boom", "Devil's Playground" and the title song, "10:49". Wait until you hear THAT one! The music has a swampy Blues sound to it and the lyrics hit very hard! An example..."You closed your eyes, I finally opened mine"...Aaron singing about the passing of his dad.

That song alone is worth the $10 plus $2 shipping that the guys are asking. cool

Another "official" video release from Aaron Williams and the Hoodoo. This one features the song "Devil's Playground", which is also off their new album entitled "10:49". Pretty cool how Eric uses live video clips and movie scenes and then blends them in with the recording off the album. cool

Enjoy,

Roy

Re: How about a little Aaron Williams & the Hoodoo to get you going today?

Obviously, I've been giving this band a hand because, I truly believe in them and the music they make much like I do for Joe. cool When I first heard their latest album called "10:49", I honestly felt it was one of the best albums I had heard recently. I even went as far as to say the title song, "10:49", was Grammy material. I'm sure some laughed...

Well, here's a post from today off of the Band's Facebook web page:

"Hello Hoodooians! We just got some surprise news, our new album "10:49" has earned a first round Grammy nomination for "Blues Album of the Year" and we've also been nominated as "Best New Artist!" We are honored by these great nominations. Thanks to all our friends for getting the word out and buying the new album!"

True, it's only a "first round" nomination, but I am feeling a wee bit vindicated in my belief in these terrific young Guys. I can only hope for the best for them! smile

Re: How about a little Aaron Williams & the Hoodoo to get you going today?

another gracious forum member sent me a copy of this, oh yeah that was Roy, WAY cool Thanks man, and many thanks to Aaron for a tremendous CD. That slide on the ciggie box is killer, but other great songs abound. Been listening most all day here at work, understand now why it has been nominated for the Grammys. I think my fav is My Turn, but #1,6,7 and 9 are excellent as well. Also love the harmonica play on several songs. Keep it up Aaron, you have a bright future my son. I wish you the best and will follow the Grammy thing closely. You and the band are really talented, so if you don't get nominated don't "fret" it, it will be par for the course (like the way I worked that in Roy?) and unfortuneatly would also be considered a compliment. roll

this is also known as 'team bumping' lol

Re: How about a little Aaron Williams & the Hoodoo to get you going today?

Hey Tres, you're most welcome! smile

I must tell you that the album did make it to the second round of Grammy nominations, but did not make the final five. Still, this was a great accomplishment for these great guys who live in our State capitol of Madison. They're already working on some new songs and I did get a chance to hear a couple of rough cuts at their New Years Eve show. One, written by Aaron, was not named yet and the other Zac wrote, but I can't remember the title. Aaron asked that I don't post them up because, they are still works in progress. Honestly, I wish their next album would be live because, as many artists are including Joe, they're fabulous live! By the way, that cigar box guitar must weigh all of about a half a pound, but the sound and Mojo coming out of it is great! wink

If I could ask for a favor from my friends here who like the album "10:49", please vote for it on this site:

http://www.americanbluesscene.com/top-b … albums.php

You'll see it listed on the left about four albums down and I'd really like to see it get into the weekly Top 5 of the American Blues Scene. You can also vote once everyday. Thanks Everyone! smile

Roy

P.S. Tres, the song "My Turn" was written by both Aaron and his father "Cadillac Joe" Andersen, prior to his father's cancer illness and subsequent death. Another great one lost to that deadly disease...
