Easy question.  I have literally listened to UFO -Strangers In The Night a thousand times.  I've had it on LP, 8-track, cassette, and now 3 CD versions.  Greatest live album ever.

couldn't agree more, a masterclass of a live show

RAH is my new number one but I agree that Strangers is right at the top.  In fact, listened to RAH as I was getting ready for a road trip yesterday and then listened to Strangers all the way on my drive. Have also been enjoying David Bowie's David Live for most of my life.

LIVE MUSIC IS BEST

Re: The Best live Albums? - A Trip Down Memory Lane

Seeing many I agree with and a few I need to look up (that's why I love this site). Adding to the list:

Gov't Mule - Live at Roseland Ballroom, Live with a little help from our friends (vol 1&2),The deepest end and Mulennium
Warren Haynes - Live at Bonnaroo
Eric Clapton - 24 Nights

Joe Bonamassa - Live at Rockpalast. I know it's a DVD but I have burned it to cd.

I’m from the old school, like the old rules - HEADACHES TO HEARTBREAKS

Re: The Best live Albums? - A Trip Down Memory Lane

Rush - All the World's a Stage
UFO - Stangers in the Night.

If you only own two live albums then these will do.

Re: The Best live Albums? - A Trip Down Memory Lane

Chicago Live at Carnagie Hall.Terry Kath is amazing on the 4 lp set.

Re: The Best live Albums? - A Trip Down Memory Lane

oh yeah that Rush in Rio is a dandy. I think they said it was shot with like 23 cameras, and the Brazilian people had the time of their life. Never seen a crowd like that on film having that much fun. Parteeeee....

actually Different Stages is 3 concerts in one package, I own that too, the best of which is A Show of Hands. Trivia buffs, where did they get the name for this concert title?

Re: The Best live Albums? - A Trip Down Memory Lane

Great thread

My two Faves;

UFO - Strangers in the night
Grand Funk Railroad - Live Album

The first is incredibly well put together - was reminded of this last week seeing MSG support BCC and seeing Schenker thrash out the solo again

The second is the 'roughest' recording you could ever hear - No post production here but a real feel of the sense of the occasion - Atlanta festival 1970

I Hear ya G Dawg. Twenty some years down the road I'll see how JB's live stuff which I love stands the test of time. As you can see my list has longevity quality.

                                                                                                                Think Classics,

                                                                                                                J Dawg

P.S. speaking of classics, Bluezman texted me a dozen times today trying to talk me into going to the Warfield Theater in SF tonight to hear Frampton reprise Comes Alive start to finish, but I'm beat from a long day of work after diggin' the hell outta Matt Schofield last night. The Bay Area is a cornucopia of entertainment, just can't do it all.....damnit!!!

You know O Dawg Joes live recordings will not only stand the test of time but should become the standard for the future.
