Curby wrote:Thanks Phil for allowing this this once. Okay... how about The Doors Live At Pittsburgh 1970 or Jimi Hendrix Live At Berkeley? The Doors are pretty bluesy on that disc and Jimi sounds energized for the Leftcoast gig. Any comments?
Sorry for my choice of words. My intention was to remind everyone of their previous selections, not to moderate. Sometimes the words in your head look different in print.

Anyway, I don't think I know the Doors album you mention, but personally I think I prefer In The West to Live at Berkeley.

I forgot to add a vbg to my remark as I was just pulling your chain. Which West album are you refering to? I can't seem to find it. There are the two albums recorded at The Fillmore East.....
ZZ Top Live In Germany 1980
Clapton - One More Car One More Rider
Stevie Ray Vaughan - Live At Montreux
Joe B - RAH
Clapton/Winwood Madison Square Garden
Kenny Wayne Shepherd Live In Chicago
B.B. King Live in Japan
Albert King Live Wire/ Blues Power
Jeff Beck Live At Ronnie Scott's
Jimi Hendrix Live At Berkeley Evening Show
Led Zeppelin How The West Was Won
That's just off the top of my head.
A few off the top of my head would be:
The Who/Live At Leeds(expanded version)
Roy Buchanan/Livestock
Allman Brothers/Fillmore East
Talking Heads/Stop Making Sense(Even better on DVD)
Lynyrd Skynyrd/One More From The Road(CD doesn't include T For Texas, best live Skynyrd track ever)
Cheap Trick/Live At Budakon
Little Feat/Waiting For Columbus
Grateful Dead/Europe '72 or 100 Year Hall (Germany)
Think Green,

Hmm - some debate about the best live Jimi album.
For me it's always been an album he shared equal billing on with another late great - Otis Redding. Picked this up on vinyl in the 70's and have always loved it - Jimi on one side, Otis on the other - showcasing highlights of their sets recorded at the Monterey Pop Festival in 1967. Thanks to Curby's thread and google I've just discovered the whole of Jimi's set from that performance has been available on CD for a while now, so it looks like Amazon will soon be getting some more of my cash.

Easy question. I have literally listened to UFO -Strangers In The Night a thousand times. I've had it on LP, 8-track, cassette, and now 3 CD versions. Greatest live album ever.

Hendrix in the West is the album I was referring to. It's a compilation of tracks from the Berkeley gigs, a San Diego show and two from the UK. I see it's being re-released again in September.

Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush - Live (1978) It is a masterpiece!
Been listening to alot of live stuff and found this little gem by the King of Strat. Awesome indeedy.
