Topic: Savoy Brown steals show @ Hartwood acres

Kim Simmonds & company totally stole the show Sunday afternoon @ Hartwood Acres-Hampton Township Pa.
Well worth the sweat & heat to see Kim agian....he continues to be one of the best legends out there...It certainly made my day.
               ( There will be a new Savoy Brown Album coming out this October on Ruff Records label)

Tommy Castro followed Kim...he was good as usual & did his ala "Buddy Guy" soloing in the crowd for 10 minutes.

Johnny Winter closed the show & also did a good job......he also walked onto & left the stage without any help from his bandmates.

Johnny played " Good morning Little Schoolgirl".....something I have not seen him play in a long time....
Speaking of Johnny...there is a free concert Tuesday July 26th...Lake Erie.....See you guys there if you can make it.

And so castles made of sand melts into the sea, eventually.........

Amazing Tommy wasn't sleepwalking. He and the band took a redeye flight out of San Francisco after headlining the Pleasant Hill Blues & Brews Festival Sat. evening. Even though they were on a tight schedule Tommy hung out to sign CD's and do a meet & greet with the winner of our autographed guitar raffle. He did all this with a smile on his face even after a 15 minute monitor/mic meltdown stopped his set 1/2 way thru. Tommy's a total pro and his fans love him for it.

Kim Simmonds remains one of the most underrated British bluesmen...One of my all time favorites.  Airportdon, the key word in your post for me was "again".  Savoy Brown always entertains.  One of my favorite shows was sharing the bill with John Mayall & The Bluesbreakers (Buddy Whittington tenure). Much similarities in the two gentlemen in my opinion-I don't think there's any more sincere British bluesmen or blueswomen than those two, and the talent that they've bred & fed along the way...

I have a few Savoy Brown/Kim Simmonds albums and you rightly say "under-rated". He's originally from a place not far from where I live and still visits occasionly. Also had the great pleasure in seeing John Mayall a few years ago -awesome- a blues legend in every sense of the word!!

I rightly mean underrated in every sense of the word...but, he was always greatly admired in New York State, in fact lives there now, near where I am originally from! I consider Kim a blues legend also...in every sense of the word.

So good to hear this band mentioned again. Fond memories of seeing them in 1973 supporting Status Quo.
