Topic: Trampled Under Foot

I mentioned about Trampled Under Foot previously in the TTB thread and think this excellent band deserves singular mention.  Thanks to some English friends I became aware of this Kansas City blues trio last year.  It was not until I heard their recent offering Wrong Side of the Blues that I started thinking this was a special group.  They're certainly unique in that the band's made up with three siblings.  Danielle Schneblen sings and plays bass, brother Nick handles the guitars and vocals and Chris Schneblen beats the skins.  To say these people are a tight little band would be an understatement.
Listening to Danielle belt out a song one is immediately reminded that this girl's the real deal behind a microphone.  With so many sing by the numbers singers gathering more press it's really refreshing to actually hear someone cut from the same cloth that gave us Janis and Bonnie.  This girl sings with emotion in capital letters.  And what about Nick on guitar you might say?  Damn fine picker is what I answer back!
TUF's last two albums are definitive blues offerings.  This is a band to be watched and I hope they get the recognition they deserve.  I've put Wrong Side of the Blues at the top of my list for best blues cd 2011.
If there's one fly in the ointment it's a lack of quality vids to promote their music.  I'll attache a couple things, but if interested you'll have to go to music sites to sample their stuff.  You'll be glad you did.

Thanks Curby.I for one always on the look out for great new music.Qustion, your picking this cd over Dust Bowl for best blues cd of 2011? That's some endorsement! I guess I won't ask you to "curb"your enthusiasm lol

Re: Trampled Under Foot

Curby,

thanks so much for the heads up. I jumped to the link where you mentioned Stevie Marriott first and I wasn't to be disappointed.

I guess I know what you mean but this lady really does her own thing. Mega voice. A great blues voice and a gerat blues band. 2 good guitarists. Plenty of feel in the whole thing.

I hope they get the breaks they deserve. May well download the album you mention.

Gary,

I'll tell you a little bit about me....I'm a semi-retired consultant and have a little extra time on my hands and I love my music.  It always helps to have good earbuds on hand for the enhancement.  I've been giving TUF my full attention of late and I'm practically gobsmacked listening to this band.  Their last two albums are both first rate and I don't apologise for saying little Danielle blows the panties off all the women singers bandied here.  Now that's just my 'umble opinion, but there it is.  Really listen to them singing "May I Be Excused" (vid #3 above) and tell me you've heard a better performance.  I get chills everytime I listen to it and the cool thing is all their studio stuff is nearly as good.  Find these albums, drink a few cold ones and then strap on those earbuds to fully enjoy the ride.  They're playing an outdoor blues festival on Sept. 2 (my wife's birthday) in Hot Springs, Arkansas that we'll be attending.  Anyone here live near HS or Kansas City area?  They'll be at the Maryport Blues Festival the end of this month.  Wasn't Blues Sissi mentioning that?

Mike,

Get their May I Be Excused album too.  Follow the instructions I gave Gary and you'll thank me.  Btw, check their calender - they're gonna be slumming in Europe this month.  How far's Norway from your house? ( teehee!!)

Re: Trampled Under Foot

Great band, the new album is superb. Can't wait to see them at thier first UK date at Maryport Blues festival on 31st July. Dana Fuch's first UK appearance on the same day! smile

Curby - T'was I (one of your English friends) that mentioned Maryport. I'd not heard of these guys until they appeared on the Maryport line-up, and after a little help from google I was so impressed that I wasted no time in getting their two most recent CDs, and cant wait to see their UK debut  (less than 2 weeks now  big_smile  ).

Can't say I've heard a better voice than Danielle's recently - as you say, pure emotion - it could melt a guy's heart.
There's a great mx of songs on both albums, with Danielle's vocals featuring on the more soulful and emotional slow blues numbers, and brother Nick taking lead vocal on the more rootsy tracks. As you say he's a damn fine picker too!

A few more videos, starting with another "May I Be Excused ". Not sure who the guy is sitting in with the white Gretch - but he's not part of the band. Maybe someone could help with that?

Duncan,

I expect one of your blue ribbon reviews for Maryport.  Maybe some pics as well.  Thanks ahead of time.

The guy with the white Gretch is Danielle's husband Brandon.

Re: Trampled Under Foot

New album produced by Tony Braunagel who was the drummer in Paul Kossoff's Back Street Crawler. The Second Street album is superb....................

Re: Trampled Under Foot

I was in Memphis when they won the IBC's.  Nick also won best guitar player which meant a white Gibson. However, he had to wait until the next year to get a left handed one!! I've also been on the Blues Cruise with them. Great musicians and "real" people. Sometimes the Universe IS fair  big_smile  C
