Topic: Paul Rodgers Blues

Here's an excerpt from a recent interview. Looks as though there may be a Muddy Waters Blues 2 album. I wonder if he would invite Joe or stick to the "oldies"?

"Well, I’m actually in the studio recording some new songs, some demos, and getting in to that. Speaking of blues, the Smithsonian Institute asked me to put together a blues album with the surviving blues guys that are around, legends really. So that’s something that is being discussed and I’m really interested in doing that. I love the blues. When I think of the blues, it’s very much a live thing for me. When I think of people like Albert King, BB King, and John Lee Hooker and all of those guys, there was a beautiful earthliness about that music and a great spirit. It also has a sense of humor you know?  When you get a song like (Paul sings): “Somebody who do who do the who do man.”  I love all of that you know? It’s very much in the roots of what I do".

No matter how far you try to push the envelope, it remains stationery

Re: Paul Rodgers Blues

Oh this is just the best news to hear.  Hip Hip Hooray for the Smithsonian Institute to ask Paul Rodgers to be a part of this wonderful tribute.  Being that it's the Smithsonian, I hope to hear some historic and iconic blues.  Paul is so great acoustically and I would love for him to throw one or two like that in there.

One thing I would love for him to do is a duets album.  He is so great when he sings with other singers and I can't wait to hear his song with Mica Paris.  She is just what I would love to hear with him.

Speaking of which, I have this one particular Free song that I would love to hear him bring back to the hear and now.
I've been playing this, and If he ever does a blues or duets album I would love to hear him trade off vocal with the Legend Etta James.  I wish Paul Kossoff could play his amazing solo, but I still would like Paul to think about bringing this one back with Miss Etta James.

nice find, thank you for that.

I see no issue with Paul playing with the oldies, - respect to these guys as we would n't be where we are... - you get the gist. - These guys need to be recorded with as much as possible with modern recording equipment, - this is the legacy that they will leave after they are gone. And I am looking forward to the young pups recording with Joe when he is 80! Now there's a scary thought!  big_smile
