Topic: John Mellencamp

Couldn't find the historic topic. Despite a slow start what a fantastic gig in Manchester last night. Have waited 24 years since Lonesome Jubilee to see him and didn't disappoint. The first hour was a documentary which dragged on a bit but he made up for it with a full band gig including the violin. Special mention for East West and Rain on the Scarecrow. Finished the 2 hour set with R.O.C.K in the USA and then the lights went up. Much prefer that to endless clapping for an encore.

So much different to when he was booed off the stage in 1976 in Aberdeen as Johnny Cougar supporting John Miles.

Re: John Mellencamp

Johnny Cougar rode the MTV horse like Tom Mix in the late 70's and as John Melancamp in the 80's.  He's still a big deal here in the heartland.  I can still remember him throwing a frisbee around in Dunn Meadow during my College days at Indiana University.  This was before him picking up a guitar and changing his name.
