Topic: Graham Nash Interview

I just watched a fascinating half hour one on one very personal interview with Graham Nash on our local cable channel. We all know the huge influence he and his music have had. Here's a thing you probably never knew.

His mother encouraged him to pursue music and break away from the slum and mining his forebears lives had been. Later in life, he asked her why she had done this. She responded that she had always wanted to be a singer on stage but life took her in a different direction. She was living her dream through Graham. After her death, he had her cremains in a jar. She goes with him in his road box where ever he plays, all over the world. Every famous place he plays, Hollywood Bowl, Carnegie Hall, Royal Albert Hall and so on, he takes a bit of her ashes and scatters them there as a memorial to her dream.

How cool is that!

Not only is Graham one of modern music's greatest singers, but a son any Mother would be proud of.  Great story Rick.

Re: Graham Nash Interview

A touching story indeed, but as I learned upon collecting my Brothers cremains that its technically illegal to scatter a loved ones ashes randomly, depending on the country, state, or city you want to scatter them. In Ca. it's pretty much illegal to scatter a loved ones ashes any where but off the coast in the ocean, a certain distance. Ironically I'm speading my Brothers ashes on Sunday morning, 2 years to the day of his passing at his favorite fishing area as he asked me to and that place is confidential.

Nice John. My lifelong best friend who passed two years ago left money to pay for his son and I to go on a long range trip for tuna. At his request, we waited for a good bite to start, then tossed his favorite rod and reel over the side with some lures, then sent him on after them. He's hooked up real good up there with his friends. I hope to join him someday. I'm sure Graham does it surreptitiously, just him and his mom. He stated she was all over the world on famous stages.

Re: Graham Nash Interview

Thanks Rick, a good friend of mine did the AIDS bike ride a few years back not long after his Father had passed and spread some of his ashes at every stop along the coast from SF to LA. It gave Paul some very satisfactory closure. BTW, let's hope we didn't throw Graham under the bus here.
