Sad news for one hell of a player...
Godspeed Leslie, one of my first heros, huge balls and tone...
Shocked at hearing this news. Hope his recovery goes well.
Very sad news, also hope his recovery goes as well as possible. Both Nantucket Sleighride and Mississippi Queen are still firmly lodged in my memory banks.
Leslie is one tough cookie, whose influence goes far over the Mountain and a couple of "FM singles". HUGE talent fountain, much more than even written so far. SO identifiable, yet SO versatile. The man simply has an amazing ability to rip something scorching right off the cuff, and still....sound sweet! So many metal wannabes should listen him up, down, & over again and again. HE taught me how poorly I could play..."hey I can play that, it's pretty eas......whoa, how does he get it to sound like THAT???!!!
He's got a good sense of humor and hopefully is still in decent spirits.

It will be a long haul but hopefully he will recover. Last saw him with Mountain in Boz Scagg's club in San Francisco in 2004 and he was as brilliant as usual.
He also has a solo album due out on 19 September called Unusual Suspects. Features Joe, Slash & Billy Gibbons.

Must be talkin' about Slim's, last time I saw Back Door Slam was there. They also own The Great American Music Hall now over on O'Farrell St.

One of the great guitarists I had hoped to see in the next couple of years. Somehow our paths have never crossed. I love how he combines some Jeff Beck style tremolo dynamics with his own classic style. And of course the man has tone that is like a wall of sound. Leslie is one of the greats.
If you don't already have it, get a copy of his 1993 live album called Live! If you like rock & blues it will blow you away. Theme From An Imaginary Western is a particular standout track.
If there is a positive note to this news it is that he still has his hands and therefore can still play.
I don't know what I would do if I lost the ability to do that.
One of my favorite bands is Trans Siberian Orchestra (if you think they're just Christmas music, you're missing a LOT).
Earlier this year Leslie West was a special guest with TSO in Mississippi. As this video suggests, skip to the 1:50 mark and the audio improves.
Hoping he recovers quickly!!
Good thoughts and prayers going out to Leslie.
Joe just posted he was gutted, that Leslie was the first to be nice to him and a close friend.
All the best to Leslie for a speedy recovery.

Just discovered Leslie West a few weeks ago.
Please let us know if there are news - hopefully good ones.
I hope that those who have diabetes take a lesson and learn from this. Unfortunately this does occur more than most know. It's tough to stay on diet when out on the road.
I wish Leslie a quick and speedy recovery. My prayers and thoughts are directed his way.

A big amen to that Spider. Back when I was a young man I saw Mountain everytime they came to my area. That was a long time ago but what I remember most was Leslie's complete mastery of the guitar.

Not just for those who have diabetes, but for those at risk. Healthy diet and exercise!
I work on the 9th floor and there are 3 parking garage levels below that. I do the stairs 3-4 times a day as something simple to work into my day. I try to go swim laps, too.
Leslie called in to Howard Stern show from his hospital bed this week. Here's a story on it...

Sounds like he's in surprisingly good spirits! Go Leslie!

That was nice to read. Thanks for sharing. My prayers, love and positive thoughts are still directed his way.
