Topic: ana popovic

Tomorrow I'll see Ana Popovic for the first time live. The Dutch bluesband The Coen Wolters Band are the support act. It's in Metropool in Hengelo, Holland.
Looks like a great night to come.
Anyone seen her live before?

I know Ana was on this topic before but I couldn't find it so new topic goes quicker!
Does  anyone  has some questions for her, I try to get an interview with her. Review will follow

Andre,
Ken and I saw her for the first time at the Clearwater Blues Festival 2 weeks ago.  we loved her. and her band is so good and so fun to watch.  She also did a meet and greet after the show.  She's very nice.  You're in for a treat.

Lawdy Mama!!!! Just got home from my first Ana show, the best $20 investment I've made in awhile. Long blonde hair, tight black leather pants, and a Strat make for a great bluesrock gig and I'm definitely not talkin' about KWS either. Her band is very tight and her bass player Ronnie is incendiary. When she started out with a slide number I thought I was gonna hear a Bonnie Raitt clone, but only a couple notes barely resembled Miss Bonnie. After the show Ana told me she doesn't use any open tunings when she slides. Loved her originals and her covers of Muddy Waters Sittin' On Top of the World and a Hendrix cover. All the guys I've heard over the years cover Foxey Lady, Red House(OHHH, not again!), Purple Haze, and Little Wing, but not Ana, she covers House Burnin' Down with her own spin on it which was a pleasantly fresh surprise. Picked up her CD Blind For Love on Ronnie's recommendation and dug it all the way home. Gotta check this Lady out again and I highly recommend her to the rest of the Bonafamily.

If Karen can get away tonight we're headed to Biscuits & Blues in SF to see Ana one more time. Sure hope more than 40 people show up like Wed. night.

Re: ana popovic

Just got back from a stellar performance by Ana & the boys. Karen loved her too and we picked up another CD & her DVD from Italy last summer. Packed house this time and Ana & co. were enjoying a 2 day layover in the City by the Bay. She told us they'd be back in late July, can't wait.

Re: ana popovic

Sign me up, Jdawg!  tongue   cool

Eye candy indeed, and the girl can play!! And her band kicks some a** too - Bob and I had a pic taken with Ana, which I will post asap, which will probably be Sunday evening. Talked to Ana and to Ronald, her Dutch bass player from Groningen, in Dutch, which blew their minds in Hagerstown.  big_smile

Gave them the STFAC info, they promised to either mail the strings themselves or give them to me at the Grolsch next week, when Ana will also sign the photo taken tonight. Her latest cd was sold out, but I'll get it next week - new cd due in August.

The crowd loved her at the end of a stunning day with perfect weather. We had a wonderful day!  cool
