Topic: A new one by Elvin Bishop, "The Blues Rolls On"

If anyone here likes Elvin Bishop, you might want to pick up his new CD "The Blues Rolls On". After my first listen today, I would describe this CD as sort of a throw back to the old Blues sound and yet, is really great to hear in current day. Elvin has quite a few notable people join him on this CD such as B.B. King, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks and Tommy Castro just to name a few. One particular song which I would think one of the forum Mods might like is Elvin's "Oklahoma". On the jacket notes it says that this song is a "typically wry autobiographical tale of his roots and journey and features just 'me and my foot'." I can tell you once you hear this song, it will be hard to get it out of your mind.

This CD just might be worth a listen to you all. smile

In Germany this album is out quite some time. I think it suffers a bit from the multitude of players, but some good songs and definitively worth buying.

One of the best blues albums I heard all last year in my opinion, and if interested, you can check out my review of the album here :

Good review, Keith!

By the way: Elvin Bishop is besides Joe the second featured artist on Jim Suhler´s Tijuana Bible. He plays a nice version of Drunken Hearted Boy.

Definitely in agreement with Keith regarding Elvin's album.  For sure thought it was in the top five Blues releases last year.  All those studs playing with him was no accident.

Re: A new one by Elvin Bishop, "The Blues Rolls On"

Elvin is THE last guy I would make jokes about after the horrific and heinous murders of his daughter Selena and her mother.

Just curious but how was Tony V?  Is he the country guy that sings "Mexico" or Tony Vegas?

Guilty as charged.  roll I'll blame it on the 'bugs and beer. Johnny V. really impressed me. Here he is a local and I'd missed him. Now I'm tracking down where he plays. That man can bring it!
