Re: Phoebe Snow

WOW, I had no idea she passed. Very sad, I didn't realize her vacancy on the music scene mainly had to do with caring  for her daughter.  The last time I heard her sing was on a TV commercial.  Such an OUTSTANDING and distinct voice!! RIP Phoebe.

Another voice quieted.  RIP Phoebe.

Re: Phoebe Snow

May God bless.  She was in the hospital, in a coma, if memory serves. the same month I was, in January 2010.  Wasn't her daughter brain damaged as well?  What a mess...

Re: Phoebe Snow

Sad news indeed.  I wore out her S/T debut album.  sad

I put up a short post on the blog about her passing, with links to a few of her songs.

Re: Phoebe Snow

Phoebe's passing has reminded me of another female artist who was popular back in the 70's (and who is still active to this day) by the name of Janice Ian. I loved her Between The Lines album. I was poking around on her website earlier and discovered you can sample music from all her records there. Great vocalist, great musician, great songwriter, great talent.

Follow this link to check out Between The Lines: http://www.janisian.com/albums/between.php

I spent many an hour getting lost in this album back in the day, which will be the subject of next week's "Turn It Up Tuesday" over on the BS Blog.

Janis is totally awesome, INCREDIBLE talent.  Loved her as a child, no wait, since I WAS a child.  cool  Furthermore, she and Phoebe guested on each other's projects!  wink

Re: Phoebe Snow

I had never heard of Phoebe before, but I listen to Howard Stern a bit, and in a recent show he talked about phoebe, and played some recordings that he got her to do with Leslie West, WOW what a voice, Howard also talked about her incredible life story, what a woman, with such a big heart, he mused that she faded after her daughter died.

The world lost a shining star in Phoebe Snow!!!

Re: Phoebe Snow

Missed this thread at the time, but I also loved Phoebe's music!  RIP ...

Saw a mention of Janis Ian, who was also awesome; haven't thought of her in many years!
