Topic: B. B. King UK Tour Dates

Can't see this anywhere else on the Forum, so ....

It seems a bit odd posting this in the Other Artists section, but technically correct:

This just in from those fine people at Noble PR:

Universally hailed as the reigning King of the Blues, legendary B.B. King will perform three UK concerts in Manchester, Edinburgh and London in June. The three shows mark King’s first UK appearances in two years. Dates include Manchester O2 Apollo (Sat 25th June), Edinburgh Playhouse (Sun 26th June) and London's Royal Albert Hall (Tue 28th June).

The blues guitar icon is pleased to confirm that the critically acclaimed singer/songwriter and pianist Avery Sunshine will be his special guest on all UK dates. 24 Hour Ticket Hotline: 0844 888 9991 and online booking: www.ticketline.co.uk, www.ticketmaster.com. Edinburgh tickets: 0844 847 1660 and online booking: www.ticketmaster.co.uk

The Varmints understand why our initial pitch to interview Mr King has not been successful, so we have put ourselves (unilaterally) on standby " ... just in case the entire UK Music Press Corps is involved in some kind of freak accident ..." (well, it could happen - feel free to start a campaign!)

Get 'em while they're hot!

Matt

Would be great to see another Joe / BB Tour. I would love to see that show.

I haven't seen BB in several years, but he always puts on a great show! I love the way he interacts with the crowd.

Awesomeness to say the least.. smile

Re: B. B. King UK Tour Dates

Maybe I expected too much but I ended up paying £50 to see the great man talk more than play in Edinburgh last night. I know he's almost 86 but I lost count of the number of times he made quips about his age in his hour on stage. Loved his guitar playing when he did branch out but can't help feeling short changed.

Kenny, considering the amount of travelling you do for other shows, this must have been one of your cheapest trips of the year, so I can hardly see how you can suggest you were short changed seeing BB King down the road in Edinburgh! hmm

I was at the show too, and just be in the same room as the King of the Blues, after thinking I'd missed the chance to ever do so, was worth the ticket price alone. Sure he talks a lot, but it's still entertaining and he does it to conserve energy for the parts in the show that he does sing and play. His vocals are still so strong and when he does play its unmistakably him.

The amount of tour dates he still does puts many artists half or a quarter of his own age to shame. At 85 he clearly knows what he's capable of doing to be able to continue. And long many he do so...

Enjoy the show those of you going to the RAH.

I agree. To be at the gig of a living legend of the genre is worth the price alone. I saw him a few years back with much the same results. I didn't regret a minute of being in the presence of The Great BB King! Ask Joe what he thinks. I bet worshiping the ground he walked on would be part of the response.

Re: B. B. King UK Tour Dates

Saw him a year ago at Claptons Crossroads Festival in Chicago.  Much the same comments.  He likes to talk more than play these days and admitted that he forgets the words alot.  A true gentleman and an absolute legend, but I passed the last time he was close.

Re: B. B. King UK Tour Dates

So some of you think he talks a little to much? I've seen him X amount of times and he does chat more than he used to play, but you need to hear what he has to impart to you. BB is just talkin' bout the blues, and we should treasure it while we can.

Re: B. B. King UK Tour Dates

was there last night as well, amazing!!!

So it probably wasn't one of the finest BB King concerts of all time, BB is getting on a bit sure but he is 85 years old what do people want? I would be very happy if I could sing and play at my prime like he does at 85!!! Like I said in terms of musical quality (which was still superb) maybe not the best but in terms of an expierence it was one of my favourite shows of all time and the memory of it will last forever. We were there the night BB wore Slash's hat!!!

TBH, this is BB King, if he had of come on stage and read the newspaper and maybe had a little nap I would have enjoyed every second. The things he has accomplished and the effect he has had on music mean he is entitled to do whatever the hell he wants imo!

Some of the reviews calling the show a clusterfuck and BB senile are just disgusting, such a lack of respect. Some youtube comments where people don't even know who Derek Trucks is or that the think Hucknall can't sing, some people just baffle me. I for one was cheering from start to finish and enjoyed every moment and I was stuck up nearly in the rafters in the circle with only half a view of the stage. Roll on tonight and Tedeschi Trucks at Sheperds Bush

BB Is STLL THE KING!

also just to counter that the majority of reviews I have seen have been positive and I'm probably just a little over hyped, on re reading most comments aren't that bad. Hyperbole gets us all lol
