Topic: Walter Trout

Just got Walters new album 'Common Ground' having never really listened to him before and I have to say I love it!

Does anyone have any reccomendation as to which of his albums I should go for next?

Re: Walter Trout

Couldn't agree more, one of the best he has ever done.

Re: Walter Trout

I own pretty much all of Walter's albums and I don't think there's a bad one. As mentioned, "Common Ground" and "The Outsider" are two of his best. Going back aways I like "Livin' Every Day" and the self-titled "Walter Trout Band".

Re: Walter Trout

My goodness, caught Walter and his band at his old stompin' grounds of Shank Hall in Milwaukee last night. What a fantastic show!! Honestly, of all the times Ive seen and heard Walter perform, this may have been his best. After the show when almost everyone had left, I had a little private time with him and I told him that very thing, how he sounds better now than even years ago. In typical Walter fashion he said, "Roy, I'm like a fine wine." We both got a good laugh out of that one! I hope to post up a video or two. Tallan Latz again got up and played with Walter as did Sammy Avila's son Danny. My goodness, young Danny Avila is one heck of a guitar slinger. And ladies, look out!! wink

I just got the pictures uploaded to Flickr, you can see them here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/8384830@N0 … 193200315/

Re: Walter Trout

Cathy and I are both particularly fond of the 'Power Trio' 'Hardcore' disc. On the other hand, there isn't anything of Walter's that's not to like!  wink

Re: Walter Trout

We just got our tickets this morning for the 4/1 show in Reading. Looking forward to it, as many on this forum have encouraged us to see him in the past. This is the first time we've had the chance to do so.

Hi Tarus!

Yes, you were one of the people I was referring to, who recommended we see him before. I was thinking the odds were good that you'd be at the Annapolis show, but it's on a Wednesday night so in the end we opted for Reading instead so we could have a long weekend. Sorry we'll miss seeing you, though. Are you going to be at the Western Maryland Blues Fest or the Hot August Blues Fest? If so, we'll see you there!

Hey Bob, you're going to love hearing Walter again. He was in such great spirits when I saw him in Milwaukee, very at ease and happy. Makes for a heck of a show! And watch out for Danny Avila sharing the lead with Walter. Oh my goodness, that kid can play!! wink

Yeah, when I saw them here it was great, had a decent chat with Walter, good spirits indeed.  Of course Joe Bonamassa's name came up, good of course, and also T Man's name came up, good also of course....BUT, apparently guitar tech nor Walter have, as far as I know, donated Strings For A Cure, which, if you did not mention Roy, I did, and if Joe & Tallan and others can do it, so can Walter. Somebody chide again please!Danny is the guitar tech so the direct route through him is preferable...maybe Walter is getting senile. Tell 'em Rocket, "the long long hair for cancer dude in San Diego says.....I'm begging, Please"!

Re: Walter Trout

Rocket, we mentioned Strings For A Cure to Walter last week when we saw him in MPLS and he was well aware of it. In fact, he mentioned the name before we could finish our little spiel. Danny Avila (guitar tech) has been saving strings to be sent in.

Makes sense since they were both pretty interested in my spiel!!! No harm in hitting them up again!  big_smile .  I can sleep well tomorrow night.  Thanks Lee.  wink

Re: Walter Trout

In my opinion...the best thing Walter has released was " Full Circle " A collection of great blues tunes done with some other great giutarists like Guitar Shorty, Jeff Healy and....the very best song on the disc " Clouds on the Horizon...with Joe and Waler trading some serious licks....worth the price of the album alone!!
