Re: Joanna Shaw Taylor MD/PA shows

I never got around to posting after the Hagerstown show, but I did end up going.  I wanted to see them on a real stage with a real sound system, as I'd only ever seen them at the tiny KClinger's Tavern before.  It was a good show, and a nice-sized crowd.  Unfortunately my friend in Greencastle couldn't make it due to a prior obligation, but I found Carl at setbreak and we hung together for the 2nd set.

The Maryland Theatre is very nice and I really like the place except for one thing... boy do they have some cheap-@ss alcohol behind that bar!  mad  tongue

I also was told that Joanne will be at Hagerstown in June, which means that I'll finally get to see her again!  tongue

(Alas, I can't wait up for some live phone music, just too damn late for me.)

What about a trip to Germany on Sunday, 10 April?
There's a gig at "Schwarzer Adler" in Rheinberg.
Rheinberg is located between Duisburg and Wesel, not far away from the Netherlands.
Maybe we see us there, I have a ticket and I'm really looking forward to that gig.

See you there Blues Sissi!

I'll come if at all possible, though I guess I will need the hospitality of Casa Wittebroek.  wink

I had a great time at Kclingers despite the long standing crap sound. Vik, I'm glad you got to hear the band in a nice venue. Did you make Layla smile?  cool
Speaking of Layla, she literally destroyed her cymbals. Pieces were flying!! And she's so tiny! According to JST she's planning time off in June (I think  hmm ) to write her next CD.  big_smile  And, the Cowboy is doing well, contemplating a change in genre.    Cathy

Re: Joanna Shaw Taylor MD/PA shows

Finally got a chance to see Joanne the other night in Florida.   George - I delivered your hug.

Great show.  Since I am not as well versed in her music as I am in some others I can't give you a set list, but I was very impressed by all of it.  The vocals were a bit tough to hear (I think a venue issue) but overall a great show.  Will I get in trouble if I say she plays like a guy - amazing playing, and would someone please explain to me why guitar players all make so many crazy faces? Layla is an amazing drummer - loved her solo where she hands off her sticks and uses just her hands. The venue was getting a bit too rowdy for my companions tastes so we left before the third set.  Saw a few Joe B shirts in the audience.

Here's a few pics - the lighting was mainly red so I apologize for the quality:

Kind of fun taking pictures in a small place again.  Hope she makes it to New England sometime in the future - would love to see her again.
