Topic: live audio broadcasts from the River Street Jazz Cafe!

My taper friend Keith Litzenberger has begun broadcasting live shows from the River Street Jazz Cafe in Wilkes-Barre PA.  This is a small venue that books local, regional, and national acts.  Tom Moran the music buyer (and head chef) is also known for getting different well-known musicians together for one-off performances, and for pooling local talent together to create new bands.  Most of Keith's recordings from there can be found on Archive.org and/or bit torrent sites, but now you can stream many shows live too, using this link:
http://www.ustream.tv/channel/riverstjazzcafe

Tonight's band (Saturday 12/18) is The Heavy Pets, starting sometime between 10-10:30pm EST.  They're a "jamband" out of Florida that could be described as a great blend of rock & roll, rhythm & blues, jazz, funk, reggae, and fusion.  I've seen them a couple times... they're very good, and they're on the rise right now... I recommend checking them out.  wink

Right now you can still stream the recordings of the last 2 nights... the Free Music Orchestra and the George Wesley Band... but I don't think he's going to continue to record the live broadcasts, or if he does, he'll delete them once he has the show uploaded to Archive and/or the bit torrent sites, as that'll be better audio.

Just a note, these broadcasts are AUDIO ONLY, no video, incase you're thinking something isn't working right.  Although he may add video at some point.  And please forgive the short ad in the beginning... it's unavoidable.

--Vik cool

PS:  I will be bumping this thread for most shows, or at least the ones I think somebody here might be interested in, so keep your eye out!  wink

If you tune in during the break, and the audio is low with a bad band playing, it is the DJ playing something terrible! lol
So funny last night, ran it up to the stereo and WTF? Helen walks in from the kitchen and asks "What are you listening to???? Turn it off! That band sucks!!!" I had to agree.  I posted to Vik and asked if the band was drunk.  roll
Vikki posted, "Come back!"  lol  lol
The band was pretty fun. First time we've listened to Reggae in a while. The encore was "Silent Night" You don't hear that done Reggae style every day....

Re: live audio broadcasts from the River Street Jazz Cafe!

TONIGHT (12/30), starting at about 10:15 EST, you can tune into a live audio stream of Pappy Biondo's (from Cabinet) "Pappy Time" CD release party at the River Street Jazz Cafe.  I have not personally heard his solo material, but I think we're talking bluegrass banjo.  Should be a good show.  I'll be there in person, so I probably won't have a chance to bump this thread closer to the time, so if anyone else here would be so inclined to do that for me, I'd appreciate it.  wink

Here's the link again to listen:  http://www.ustream.tv/channel/riverstjazzcafe

I didn't bother bumping this thread for the past couple live broadcasts, either because I didn't think there'd be an interest or I didn't have time, but afterwards I wished I had, because the shows were SO good.  But it's not too late!  Because there are always Keith's uploads to Archive and the bit torrent sites!  This one in particular I think some people here would enjoy... I already shared it with some people on chat and they were digging it... it was a Christmas allstar jam featuring George Wesley, Mike Miz, Dylan Skursky, John Shemo, Freeman White, and more.  They sounded fantastic together and the song selections were wonderful.  This is an excellent multitrack recording... at the Archive.org link you can just listen without downloading if you want......

And here are 2 good videos from the show... Keith always syncs his good audio to his videos... enjoy......

Again, I hope to see some of you tuned in TONIGHT for the "Pappy Time" CD release party, starting around 10:15 EST!  Just click here ---> http://www.ustream.tv/channel/riverstjazzcafe

Edit:  I just found out Pappy will be taking the stage around 11pm.  Opening the show will be the Bog Country Band, featuring members of Cabinet.

Hey Rick, thanks for tuning in, glad you enjoyed it! big_smile   It was pretty sweet from MY perspective too!  These guys are really great together... Garcia Grass is only a side project for them (they all have other bands), but I wish they'd have time to do it more often!

If anyone is interested in listening to and/or downloading the show, here ya go... it's a soundboard/Schoeps matrix, sounds fantastic (much higher quality than the stream, of course)... enjoy!   --Vik cool

Re: live audio broadcasts from the River Street Jazz Cafe!

Thanks Vik! We may be the only ones here that like Bluegrass. I'm an honorary Hillbilly with kin and roots in Appalachia. Eastern Kentucky (First settlers guided by Daniel Boone!) That was some good music. cool
