FWIW I agree info about upcoming shows should go to all. I do think though that the geographical area thing is so they can ask for help promoting specific shows when needed.

Vikki it sounds like you have experienced how other artists promote their tours and presales. I agree with you on your points 2 & 3. So one solution may be to send 2 different types of email blasts one to fans for dates & presale information so it goes to everyone no geographic predetermination and separate email by geographic area to solicit those willing to do Streetteam work.

Exactly.  I've been saying all along that the Street Team and the Fan Club should be two separate things, and that is one big practical reason why.  Right now they are combined... the button on the main page says "Fan Club", and once you're on that page it says "Street Team/Fan Club", and the official Street Team site says "official fan club site"... all of which I believe just causes confusion with everyone's expectations.  And I can't think of any other band that does it that way.  I mean it's already a given that a streetteamer is a big fan... it's kinda like the square/rectangle rule... streetteamers are always fans, but not every fan is a streetteamer, at least not according to my definitition of streetteaming (as described in point #3 in my previous post).  And by the way, maybe I should've mentioned before, that's what a Street Team SHOULD be, but that's NOT the way it always works around here, based on my own experiences and others' stories I've heard.  I would not spend the time, effort and money (printing, gas) without a solid deal for comp tix.  This "tell us what all you did and maybe we can get you a ticket or two" business is bullcrap (or initially saying comp tix won't be a problem, then not coming through with them)... I've done a lot of streetteaming for various bands and I've never run into that elsewhere.  I'm also Street Team Cordinator for The Machine, so I know how the internal logistics of such an arrangement should work.

Re: Advance ticket orders for Street Team members

Excellent Vikki. I was and still am confused by the arrangement. Seems kind of haphazard.  I tried to figure it out, finally just shrugged my shoulders and went on promoting Joe in my own way, person to person. Here in San Diego, there is a lot of competition for the entertainment dollar and I don't think there has been a large venue sellout since they started doing them. Still tickets, albeit poor ones, available for the Feb. show. I'd say it is close to 95% right now. A bit of work could fill it.

Re: Advance ticket orders for Street Team members

I am SO glad that you all began to discuss this!

I get "ads for things to purchase from the JB store" emails, but have not ever really recieved any official Street Team email.
I kept going to the street team website, and kept checking the "Street Team Members click here" lnk, where that info remained the same for a rather  long time.  Not blaming anyone, I realise that not everything can be top priority when Joe's folks have venues to book/confirm, and other things to do that really bring in what pays the bills.

I too love to travel, and firmly plan on it, in order to see future Joe shows.
It would ROCK if we could just get the straight info, not demographic chunk of presale ticket info emails.  At  this time, I've recieved none of the presale email blasts.  So I am constantly checking around on the forum here.

And I don't ever want be considered just a fan.  I signed up for street team, as I am passionate about talking to people about Joe and his music.  I have a seperate small Ipod with nothing but Joe's  music.  I keep it with me always.  When I talk to people about Joe, I let them listen.   I thoroughly enjoy what i try to accomplish as a street teamer, and wouldn't have it any other way.  Am not out to grab up anything for free.  I believe in supporting Joe completely. And that, my friends will never change.

Re: Advance ticket orders for Street Team members

When I first started posting and dug back in the archives to get a feel for the fanbase, I remember some of the old hands posting about handbills and cards they would print up. Of course this was back in the day when Joe was touring in the van and doing gigs in small clubs. The smallest venue I've seen him in was a 350 or so seat club and that sold out in a hurry. I've never received an email blast either. The way I got some news was to subscribe to online Twitter for the Joetweets of pre releases, and those were kind of random too. I travel too and a geographic limit wouldn't suit either. I know the San Diego pre release was out of the blue and I had been trying every way I knew to get a fast start, and it was a day late before the news came out.  neutral It is very possible his staff is just overloaded with the meteoric pace of his career lately. I'm cool with that. Maybe the street team could be disseminators of the pre release info?  Kinda help out the staff? I dunno, I'm starting to ramble like Jane.  lol

Re: Advance ticket orders for Street Team members

I know you're right  Rick.

I agree with helping the staff.  I'm all about that also.
I know it's probably a pipe dream, but I sure do with we could manage to organize this so that we COULD help them out more.

Am ready, willing, able to pitch in and do more. I'm an email away.

Re: Advance ticket orders for Street Team members

Well, I've been a Street Team member for a little while now. I don't post a lot here but I do check in for updates and to see what's going on.

I did not wait for anyone to set me up. I have been using the Signature function on all of my emails, both personal and professional. I print out his concert schedule and post them in the Hotel lounges and some Bars I frequent while traveling.

I have finally got Joe added to the Juke Boxes in several places here locally that I frequent and I always get the "Who is That? question when I play his music.

I did not see Joe on the concert schedule for Indiana a couple of months ago and I emailed Melissa and Alexis and asked if they knew of anything coming up that was close. They promptly emailed me back and notified me of the Cincinnati concert weeks before it was announced.

I also use Joe's music as a Backdrop on MySpace and have links to his site on my Facebook.  I have purchased and given the Gift of "Joe" (RAH, and CD's) to several people who also spread the word!

I have fun doing it and I really like to see the faces of people who hear Joe for the first time!

Happy Holiday's everyone!  Hope to see you in Cincinatti!
