I went to the Mugg's website and listened to the 3 mp3's they have on there. They sure have the 70's Blues-Rock thing going on. Thanks for the heads-up. Never could get into the Stripes though. I do need some Rory though, and more Pie...only have Smokin. Thanks

I'm with ya - except Leeds. Great album (was Ox's favorite recording) but the production/sound lacks.
Supertramp's stuff plays VERY well on the system. I need more Trower, had that on vinyl but never on CD.
Thanks

Excellent choice. I dig the whole Jazz fusion thing. Though not fusion per se, I'll go with Caravanserai by Santana. Listen to it with headphones to get the whole experience.

Not familiar with this artist. Will check them out thanks!

I recently upgraded the stereo system in my truck. Nothing really fancy, but it's a decent upgrade for me. I'm wondering what one CD you reach for when you want to show off your home or car stereo? Not necessarily your favorite artist or favorite song, but the CD that just sounds the best (at relatively loud levels). So far, I think War's "The World is a Ghetto" CD (and that song in particular) is the one I'm dropping in when I'm showing someone my new setup.

What do you reach for?

Mornin Stu

I love " War", them and "Santana" were two bands that crossed all ethinic groups in the neighborhood I grew up in.

Dont know if your into "RUSH", but if you can handle Geddy Lee ( either people love or hate him ). Anyways they put out a really cool cover album a few years ago, it's called "Feedback", they absolutely kill it. I wish I had the cover of the album on a shirt, take a look.

Shredit

Oh yeah, love them. 2112 sounds pretty good on the new system. I quit bying them after Moving Pictures though but will look into Feedback. Thanks!

Re: CD recommendations?

Phew! Thanks everyone. I better quit now, all those posts in a row are probably making Jane nervous! Not to worry Jane, I think your record is safe :-)

Re: CD recommendations?

Dream Theater - Awake

Awesome-sounding production, fantastic musicianship, great vocals and thought-provoking lyrics...and the drums just KICK (go Mike Portnoy).

Jane...That's the first one I thought of when I saw Stu's post, then scrolled down and saw that you "beat me to the punch".
Bridge of Sighs...(In This Place or Bridge of Sighs)
I saw Supertramp's Crime of the Century here...the song "School" is a great candidate.
How about Django, from our very own JB?

"Rock ON & Keep the Faith"

Re: CD recommendations?

Little Village-song-"Solar Sex Panel"-puts all speakers to work!!  I also thought of Pink Floyd first...funny..

Re: CD recommendations?

I'd try:

Gino Vanelli-Pauper in Paradise

Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers-Damn the Torpedoes
Slade-Sladest
The Doors-L.A. Woman
UFO-Force It
Joe Bonamassa-Blues Deluxe

Blues Deluxe does have a decent crank-ability factor! You know I haven't tried Live Bullet yet but should. The Doors always had great production, ahead of their time in that department too! Thanks

I second that. I was listening to a Jazz Fusion show they have here on late Sat. and they were playing this one song. I said to myself, they better say who this is. Luckily they did. It was Return to Forever. The song was The Magician. Fantastic.

Thanks guys. I will look into that one. I didn't know Al di Meloa was part of that combo (or Clarke or Corea for that matter). I do remember the Elegant Gypsy LP from the 70's...that was an amazing album. Thanks again.

I'm partial to "Casino" myself. The song "Fantasia suite for two guitars" is some of the best guitar work around. Just for informational purposes, if you read the liner notes for Joe's HTCT, Joe mentions Al Dimeola in reference to Faux Mantini (i don't remember Joe's exact quote, but there's a definite Dimeola style to that song).
