Can it be that long ago John Lennon was gunned down on a New York City street? What a terrible day; a life ended so tragically. RIP John.....

Wow, 29 years! I didn't realise it was today.
RIP John.

Together with Eva I saw a wonderful Lennon exhibition in the NYC Rock´n´ Roll Hall of Fame. He seemed very alive to me.

Coming from Liverpool I remember this day very well.
Although John was living in the USA he was still seen
as a 'local boy made good'.
A needless death which robbed us all of a great talent.

I remember hearing the news on the radio while in line at the drive-thru bank. I starting bawling. I'm certain the Teller thought I was off my rocker. Not digging deep into his song list, because this is the one that moves me to tears every time. Imagine indeed! RIP John Cathy

None more appropriate. Most of us of a certain age were shattered that day. So senseless....
Actually it was thirty years ago this day, December 8, 1980. Like most of my generation, Lennon was the Beatles. Paul and George (I ain't counting Ringo) were extremely talented, but John was special. I heard about it when I got up the next day and had difficulty working that day. I didn't cry, but I cursed the POS that shot him. The thing that bummed me the most was his death essentially closed the door for a Beatles reunion.
This is a song I want played at my funeral.....

Curby,
This thread was from last year, Jane pulled it up to current status. There's another thread under "Other Topics" for this year.

Amen to that. John was always 'my' Beatle.
This one will do for me - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=njG7p6CSbCU
