Topic: Hello

Hi,

As usual I did things the wrong way 'round - tried to upload photos without introducing myself!!!

Hi, I'm Steve from the north of England, and I am relatively new the Bonamassa phenomenon.  Joe first arrived on my radar courtesy of Amazon who sent me a mail saying something like "You bought this (probably Aynsley Lister)...You may like this...(probably the Live at The Albert Hall DVD).  Been hooked ever since - seen him 3 times in 12 months, and bought all the CDs and DVDs
It has been good for me too, because I am old enough to have seen the original line-ups of Deep Purple, Yes, Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, Genesis and Led Zeppelin and then there was a gap of about 25 years when live music and me became strangers.

Then came the Blues Festival at Colne (a town near to me) which is a 4-day International Festival of "The Blues", which has just celebrated it's 21st year and that got me back into seeing live acts again, and buying music again. And so, my gentle introduction into the UK blues/rock scene began - Aynsley Lister, Ian Parker, The Hamsters, Joanne Shaw-Taylor, Oli Brown, Chantel McGregor, and also some U.S. acts (just loved Eric Sardinas).

Anyway, about 2 years ago I also began an interest in photography (at first, trying to capture my Saluki/greyhound at full speed).  Now I am trying to bring the 2 together - live gigs and amateur photography.  In recent months I have managed to "get" Joe, Chantel McGregor (twice), Ian Parker and Walter Trout.  I see Aynsley in December, and am just enquiring about a photo-pass.  Hopefully, Joe will also visit the UK again in 2011, and with any luck I may be able to take my "proper" camera along and get some really good shots!

Well, that's about me

Re: Hello

Welcome Steve. Your course of involvement mirrors many here, including myself. Keep those photos coming, we have a talented group of amateurs and some seriously good semi pros and pros as well. As Joe wends his way around the world, the reports and photos keep our needs somewhat placated until his return to our areas. There are quite a few members here in your area and you will someday meet face to face with some.

Ha Ha - it's funny you should say that, because I just came from a Walter Trout gig in Warrington (UK) where by chance I was stood next to Geoff and Icon who grace these pages with their stories and photos of their many Joe gigs. (It was only by chance that I got a call on my mobile before the gig started, and I have a Joe song as a ringtone, and Geoff says "there's someone with a good taste in music"...and so we got chatting, and that prompted me to come onto these pages!

Re: Hello

Hi Jensy! I think you are our first Singapore member. Welcome to the Forum. I've been to Singapore several times, a beautiful and interesting place. How did you get to know about Joe and his music? You have a chance to hear him live next year if you like to travel since he is touring Australia, which is as close as he will get to you.

Hey Welcome Steve. That was quite some moment when your phone rang. It was great to meet you that night in Warrington. Wasn't it great to see how Walter promotes new young blues talents? Good to have you on board!
