Topic: Hampton Beach little story

A year ago I`d never heard of this guy and it`s just because I`m a huge Glenn Hughes fan that I happened to take a listen and see how good he really was. Fast forward a few months, I became a real fan of his music and when I found out he was coming to Hampton Beach, hey what the hell it`s only a 4 hour drive from Sherbrooke Québec and that would give us a much needed break from our hectic life.

Since he was playing on a Saturday night, I started the have this plan !!! Maybe if we arrive on the Friday night, stay close to the concert hall, maybe, just maybe we could bump into Joe and have my 16 year old son's Les Paul signed, well that was the plan.

So when we woke up saturday morning we could see the equipment van and Joe`s bus rignt behind the Casino Ballroom, so ok he`s arrived, now what ? Later on we we`re having lunch on the 2nd floor of our hotel then decided to go for a walk on the beach since it was a glorious day  cool  . We were ready to leave when we just happened to see Joe having lunch at the same place we were just a few minutes before !!! What to do, my son really wanted to have a chance to get his guitar signed, but he was relaxing and having lunch and we didn`t want to disturb and annoy him. We waited about 20 minutes, then Jord took his courage with both hands  yikes   and went on all by himself with his guitar. When Joe saw him coming he smiled and said '' Well I think we have a Les Paul Studio here''. Jord then introduced himself, told him we drove all the way from Canada to see the concert and asked him if he could take a few moments to sign the guitar. ''Of course dude, my pleasure'' then looked at the thing and signed it lol . He then told us to look at the website because they were about to announce a Montréal date in April. Should I use the Meet n`Greet from Litho 2 ???

Anyway that`s our little story from Hampton, as for the concert itself some folks allready posted a great review from the show. The only thing that was a bit annoying was all the travelling from some people mad  for I don`t know what reasons, getting a beer, take a p... break or whatever, but come on people when Sloe Gin starts everybody should stay still and just be amazed by the sounds that are coming from the stage...

All in all a great weekend, couldn`t have asked for a more perfect holiday. Thanks Joe for making the show of a 16 year old guitar hopefull even more magical...

Another great testimony mightyduck!  What a treat for your son & Joe!

P.S.  I had to laugh when you were describing seeing Joe at lunch. How many of us get that "adrenaline rush" when we see him and don't know what to do?  It's that "awe factor" when you see your hero.   wink

"I'm not nice to any guitar!"      lol

Hi Patty

The thing is when you're about to meet your idol, I always get afraid of being disapointed. What if the guy is rude, abnoxious or just a complete jerk. Wouldn't that be a downer right before going the his concert.

Thank God that didn't happen, on the contrary Joe was everything everybody here said he was. It's nice to see a down to earth guitar hero who understands what it is to meet your idol. Way to go...

Really enjoyed your little story mightyduck (??? Not a Habs fan???).  Your boy knew how to make things happen when he used The Faith!  Enjoy Jord! I know you did!
