Re: Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience

Hey Vikki,
I never heard of that virtual Zeppelin before, very cool.  And YES, Paul Sinclair would have been a good fit as well.  A few years back we went to see Clapton at the Wachovia arena in Philly and in one of the bars before the show, a band was playing Cream & other Clapton music.  It was Paul Hammond, the guitar player that has hair like Robert Plant's from Get the Led Out.  We got to speak to him at the end of his set, he is a very nice guy and sooooooo talented!!!

One thing that bothered me at the show was Jason mentioning some of the things said about him on the internet in reference to the "WHY" he was doing this tour. Probably the most negative thing about the internet is, it brings out the worst in a mean-spirited person!!!  sad  I'm not even going to waste a keystroke on the "'WHY", it needs no explaination.  I just want to say, THANK YOU JASON BONHAM FOR BRINGING THE MUSIC TO US!!!

And for It's Me and Rick....  Your Time Is Gonna Come  smile    Still my fav Zep album.

And Kentucky fan, my fav Zep tribute band will be in your neck of the woods in less than 2 weeks.  Check out the tour schedule, they will be in Louisville November 19th. http://www.gtlorocks.com/tour_schedule.htm

One week to go.  Next Sunday at this time an excited Me and Mr. Me will be having dinner with RickB and MrsRickB.  Hopefully the weather will hold out and be pleasant. The restaurant is outdoors. Margarita Time!!
But the long wait to see the show will finally be here.

Re: Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience

Michael, the bass player is Fantastic and is there any better bass intro to a song!!!!!  Jason made a joke during the show about how Michael is the chick magnet!!  Coming from the mindset of seeing tribute bands, the bass player fits the Jimmy Page look with his hair and good looks,  etc., however Tony C. is a fantastic guitarist and the whole band is GREAT!!!

Have Fun!!

Re: Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience

We just rolled in. We met It's Me and Mr. It's Me (great to meet new Bonabuddies!) for Mexican food and lubrication, then went a block away to the historic Fox Theater in Riverside (the world premier of Gone With the Wind was held there) and Wow! If you  love Led Zeppelin and want to take a time travel trip back to a live concert of greatest hits with fantastic video, don't miss Jason Bonham's tribute tour. More later, I'm tired after a long drive back. I've got to figure out how to process 8GB of video through 100MB of free disk space.  yikes

Up and rested, here is our impression after a night's sleep. What a fun time. Towards the end of the show with some prompting by Jason, the audience was standing and singing along and it was an unforgettable experience. I saw original era fans like us, middle agers and even parents with young children in attendance. A good cross section of ages. I'll let It's Me fill in her report but I'll leak that via a friend, they had dead center, elbows on the stage and buried in the fog machine's output seats!!! cool  cool

Gee thanks for the offer Rocket.  tongue I guess it is time to either get some fresh hamsters for this old pc or a new one. Insufficient memory complaints galore when HDvideo files are attempted. Time for housekeeping. I didn't meet the squiddish gent but did have a fellow pass me on the street before dinner and do a triple take before coming over and commenting on my BCC tee. First he'd seen, so I told him where to get one.  smile (cool to be the first kid on the block with new stuff  wink )

Re: Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience

Ahhh.....the memories.  I was trying to see if you could see the back of me and the hubbys head.

It was great meeting Rick and Helen before the show for dinner and then taking our walk over to the theatre, milling about before being let in. I was very lucky in that a forum friend at the Zeppelin site gifted me his tickets because he forgot to sell them and wasn't going to make it to CA (He is in NY). Emailed me the scan Sat. am and printed them out on card stock.  Row 1 seat 105 & 106.  Up front in the center.  The best seats in the house.  Pinch me cuz I was dreaming.

What a show!  All that fog in the video was rolling off the stage and into our laps.  Being that close you could see the expressions on all their faces and what a great time Jason was having up there.  He was truly appreciative of the fans but it was mutual as we cheered and clapped until my throat was sore and my hands stung.  At one point James, who could belt those songs out, flicked his mic cord and all the excess slack landed on our feet.  We just picked it up and threw it back on stage. Jason playing Moby Dick with his dad playing along on the video screen behind him was quite emotional for me and probably alot of others.  Seeing Jason's show and the band recreating the essence and sound of Led Zeppelin as a tribute to his dad was great and for those of us who love and are wanting of anything LZ, well, it's a wonderful memory to carry around.

The set list was:
Rock and Roll
Celebration Day
Your Time Is Gonna Come
Babe, I'm Gonna Leave You
Dazed and Confused
What Is An What Should Never Be
The Lemon Song
Thank You
Moby Dick  ...Aw come on...it's the name of the song...

Intermission

Good Times, Bad Times
How Many More Times
Since I Been Loving You
When the Levee Breaks (with his sister Zoe playing the harmonica)
Ocean
Over the Hills and Far Away
I'm Gonna Crawl
Stairway to Heaven
Kashmir
And Encore  Whole Lotta Love

Re: Jason Bonham's Led Zeppelin Experience

Rick....your video is great.  It got posted at the Zeppelin site but the youtube poster is by someone named jamesnorthernva.  Did he nick your video?  They look exactly the same to me and even has those lines running  off the lights.
