Let me start by saying this is a lovely city. We got there early enough to roam the streets and take in the culture. It also allowed enough time for me to lose my make-up bag. (No comments from the peanut gallery). Now, in the States, when you lose something it's gone. Not so in Holland! We stopped at the local Police office and it had been returned. Warms the heart!
Because we were so early we got to have a quick peek before the show. Great venue, not too big with good acoustics. After Bibi joined us we headed back for the show. The crowd was eager and enthusiastic. All age groups too.
I don't know the set list. G got a copy which he can't find at the moment. There was no opener. As Joe said "Two is for dancing" and he was going to use all the time himself. No complaints from the crowd.
I think the recent illness still lingers a bit in his throat, so he took a few songs to sort it out. No biggie. Highlights for me remain the intro to Sloe Gin and the new song ,Slow Train, in which Joe does a Luther Allison type "Woo-who" that fits his voice perfectly!! There was nothing but stellar guitar, of course. The boys in the band were also spot on. I6t's so nice to see Carmine back in form. He did say after that issues continue, but nothing stopping him for now. Let's all keep those prayers going.
We were fortunate enough to have some time with Joe, Carmine and Rick after. (Have I mentioned how much I love these guys? ) I asked Joe about being left at the airport. Poor thing, he was in the midst of food poisoning and ran back into the airport's restroom. When he came out, no bus!! No phone, no money..just a web site to prove his identity and a kind soul who sent him to his destination. Next time I don't think he'll be so considerate, and rightly so!!
Now, off to the shower and out for show #2...this is all going too quickly now. I know..I am a very lucky woman. Cathy
OH..I forgot..Joe said his full name is Joseph Leonard Bonamassa There's a nice Italian name for ya!
