Topic: Devon Allman: Space Age Blues

Finally Devon´s new album is out. At least we got it yesterday night when we were at one of his three German shows. It took place in the middle of nowhere, somewhere in the hills of Upper Franconia, in a place Devon called "cozy".
Nonetheless it was a great show. These guys - Devon, George on bass and Gabriel on drums - were really rocking with high intensity. I saw them three times the last year and they are getting better and better - definitively on their way up!! They played some songs from the new album, also from Torch, a Stevie Wonder (!)song and -as always- ABB songs.
On the way back Eva and I were listening to the new album: we loved it both. Honeytribe is reinforced by keys, harmonica(Huey Lewis) and a cool saxophone.
Go and get it!

It´s very mysterious to me that he´s not more popular. Even here in this specialist´s forum hardly anyone seems to be interested.

Yep, mysterious indeed ... the new album is superb and so was the show at the end of the world in Kronach. We almost turned around, thinking "this CAN´T be it", probably the smallest venue I´ve ever been to. But: it was packed. wink

Space Age Blues has a great mixture of "classical" Bluesrockers, beautiful instrumentals, rocking tunes, the SETVIE WONDER song (which turned out great) and just very well written songs in general - so I can only agree: go and get it!
And for all of you that don´t have "Torch" yet- Joe plays on that one too ... even though this album isn´t my favourite, I think Devon really grew as a musician in the last few years.

And for the live shows ... just see for yourself and watch out for the great ABB covers (if you can call it "cover" when an Allman plays Allman) that he does in addition to his own songs.
