Re: Any tips on a small stage setup...?

Hire some buddies to help you set up. Promise them food and beer. This will help in the setup.  cool

Re: Any tips on a small stage setup...?

Again, I really don't think it's about volume.  Everybody needs to be heard...listen to the drums and other band members and mix accordingly.  Whether you're mic'd or not doesn't matter.  The sound guy can make adjustments as needed but if you're listening and blending onstage then you'll make his job much easier as well.
How big of an area/venue?  How much sound re-enforcment?  If you're pushing a small PA too hard to fill a too big of an area then you'll distort the PA amp(s) and speakers.

Re: Any tips on a small stage setup...?

Its outside with about 1 to 1.5 acors of land.  We have Yorkville 15"s running through a behringer mx2442a 16 ch board.  we have 2 crown amps.  One is 600 watts per channel at 8 ohms and the other is for monitors 200 watts at 8 ohms.

Like I said we can be as loud as we want, but none of us know what the hell we are doing and we can't get together on a good day with good weather to try this stuff out is our biggest problem.

Re: Any tips on a small stage setup...?

My suggestion would be to not push the PA too hard.  Thats a lot of space to fill with a relatively small system.  Blend yourselves on stage and mic instruments for prescence but let the vocals carry.  Sometimes less is more. Good luck.

Re: Any tips on a small stage setup...?

Keep your amps away from each other and only use the mic's for the vocals.  Your amps will work just fine if they are all 40 watt and above.  I was a sound guy for a small venue that could only hold about 50 people or so.  Hopefully you'll have time to do some sound checks before you hit the stage.
