i don't like beer 

my favourite drinks are cocktails like "sex on the beach" and "tequilla sunrise"
and cola-bacardi

Ben:   This is not fair, but fun.  It presents the same type of agony of choosing a favorite JB song.  You could have only posed a more difficult question if you asked us to pair up each of our favorite beers with a Joe song. I could only approach this from a least favorite angle.  In the beer category, that would have to include all of the light beers.  I drink them only when I'm in the   "I gotta lower my carbs for today", mode, not for the taste, but out of guilt.  When it's throw back beer time, I've done 14 in one evening in a contest (we both got sick) but called it a tie. I cut myself off now at about 5-6 -    Kathy

Interesting suggestion.  The most common pairing for me is when I'm outside grilling during the summer and I have ANDY live cranked up and ice cold Rolling Rock...those days are coming soon!

The first annual Joe Bonamassa Forum Family BBQ!  Now that's an idea and a half right there!

no particular order:

Red Stripe (good beach beer)

Sam Adams Boston Lager

Hacker Pschorr (German)

Corona (with Mexican)

Michelob Ultra (when I'm almost broke and NEED 12 right away)

Jane:  I went to the Dogfish Head Ale House in Gaithersburg (MD) last fall to see lower case blues, a cool blues-rock band from the Rehobeth/Bethany area, and drank a couple of the pumpkin ales, they were EXCELLENT.  Have seen several great blues shows at KClinger's in Hanover, PA, who boasts 25 beers on tap (rotating weekly), where I've had a great assortment of Hefeweizens and fruit-flavored wheat beers.

I must admit I'm a bit overwhelmed by the microbrew terminology and really have no idea how a "hoppy" beer tastes different than a "malty" beer.  If anyone knows a good book or online resource for newbies, I'd love to know about it.

Right now, I'm feeling some ill effects from the 2 $6 Yuengling Lager can beers I was forced to purchase seeing G3 at Warner last night.  Getting old sucks, but it beats the alternative.

Hey Ben,
Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is one my favorites, and if you can brew something like it that's great. Their Celebration Ale is fantastic and their Bigfoot Barleywine is potent, but still very drinkable. I also love wheat beers, especially in the summer.  I tend to like the unfiltered ones. Bell's Oberon (Michigan) is a pretty good American style hefe-weizen and Summit (St. Paul) brews a pretty good Belgian style wheat beer called Scandia. Duvel is a sensational Belgian ale, but there are lots of interesting and excellent Belgian ales. I think the Belgian ales are as good as it gets.

I've never brewed my own beer, so I can't really help you there, but I've always wanted to try it. Good luck!
