Topic: Welp I guess my band broke up.

Our Drummer is mad at everyone for an outdoor gig we did over the weekend.  Yours truely missed a sound check that everyone knew I couldn't make, then it rained for 2 hours.  After we all got drunk waiting for the rain to quit so we could pack up someone had the bright idea we would play music.  No Sound check left me with a very harsh sounding guitar sound.  It got better on the second set but we basically were so drunk we forgot some words to some songs.   So the drummer is mad at us and decided he wasn't going to waste any time this weekend with another gig we have because we are not 100% vested.
Everyone is mad at everyone now because of the drummer, he won't quit but he's not playing this weekend, and I'm not playing anymore until he's out so everyones now mad at me because of all this.  So I guess I am out of the band.  I never thought I would be in one in the first place but now I know how bands works and why they breakup.  Life lesson in all of this somewhere, oh yeah don't put your life into some as fragle as a band there is more important things in life.

Sorry but getting drunk before going on stage is simply not on. The band lets its self down, the venue and the fans. Sounds like your drummer should be managing you. Listen to him he obviously cares about his performance. Fun and games are best left till after the gig, once all the gear is safely packed away.

Can tell a similar story ---- I drank too much before a gig once..... a lesson learnt!   I was the DJ as well !
Another band i was in...... the lead singer drank before his first gig .... he was nervous ..... by the time it was our slot..... he was so drunk...... we were in trouble from the first song.... we managed to get through 3 songs.... and got off quick! .... so embarrassing ..... we sacked the singer... the band split shortly afterwards.

So, the moral of the story ....... don't drink before a gig..... well, maybe one, but no more!    hmm

Well its gotten better since this morning I've at least agreed to talk to him.  Every body was drinking including the drummer.  I had 4 coors beers through the night but no food for the night.  Our sound check I found out today was very early there was no way I could make it.  I got kids and thats just something I'll have to adress with him.  Thanks for listening though.
