Last night was the peak, but the meteor shower is happening this whole week, as we pass through the tail of the comet and back out again. The skies are good and dark this year because the Moon happens to be in its new phase. Unfortunately, where I live it's been cloudy/hazy the past 3 nights, but 4 nights ago was clear and I did some sky-gazing a few times throughout the night and saw a total of 8 of them.
Also, TONIGHT there's going to be a triple conjunction with the Moon... Venus, Mars and Saturn will all be close to the thin crescent moon, if you look to the west just after sunset.
