I've heard good things about the Plexitone. What type of sound are you trying to achieve? If it's a "Plexi" type sound you couldn't go wrong with this pedal. I for one don't understand why people with Fender amps are trying to get Marshall tones...I LOVE the sound of a Fender amp under stress as much as I love an EL34 sound. Now mix'em together and...ooops this has been beaten too death in other threads
I had a plexitone until recent. I owned several "marshall in a box" pedals from MI Audio, Lovepedal, Wampler, you name it. The Plexitone was really the best of the bunch. Super dynamic and really cleaned up nicely with the volume knob. I found however that the second channel, which is supposed to be higher gain, just added more noise. Nothing special there. Anyhow, I just sold mine recently because I decided for myself only, the search for a marshall only leads to a new pedal, and only the amp itself can do that job. I now have an amp by Mule, which started out as an old bogen PA and now is wired to 1987 marshall specs. Great tone. Crank that beast, and use a fulltone fuldrive II. That is my sound.
I'm sure its a good pedal. I love my Hot Drive N' Boost. It has a great overdrive however I now only use the boost feature. I picked up a Marshall DSL100 ectremely cheap on ebay and have come to the conclusion. If you want a nice Marshall gain sound just buy a Marshall.
If you're looking at this pedal for a Marshall sound because you don't have the cash for a Marshall just wait a bit and save some money and check ebay or craigslist frequently.
