Re: High Voltage Festival- any idea what time Joe is on?

Nice pics Tel. Taking a lot gives a good flavour of the day. You may like to post the link on the Cool Pictures forum (on the thread that Brack has started) as that's the main place members look for photos of Joe's shows.

Now I know what you look like I'll keep an eye out for you at Joe's dates in October.

Nice pics - I also took a couple and you may like to look at them:

Comments as always are invited.

Interestingly, - to me anyway! -  I was using my new Panasonic Lumix TZ10 for the first time at a concert after selling my trusty TZ3.

Fantasic set by Joe and the final real highlight of the  weekend for me.

Also really enjoyed UFO - well they are my all time favourite band, Quireboys, Bachman Turner - a really special highlight, Zwizil Zapper- a real quality contrast, Saxon, Gary Moore, Heaven & Hell and The Answer.

The festival itself was notable for the amazing number and cleanliness of the toilets, no queuing at the many bars, great food at relatively reasonable prices and the totally relaxed atmosphere over 21 1/2 hours of rock.

Now roll on October in Bristol where I have seat A17!!!!!

Apparently GM was in a very pissy mood after being told on his way to the stage that he would have no encore time.....

Don't take much to set the old curmudgeon off and that was enough..... big_smile

I just had a post on FB from an Italian lady fan that after his show in Genova she asked him to autograph the cd she had just bought and he told her to F*** Off! Needless to say, she and her friends will never patronize anything associated with GM again. What an arrogant fool!

Thanks Brack, that makes sense, get a good mix of everything then I guess.  I actually thought about maybe the live Albert Hall DVD too to watch the passion behind the sound, I'll see how far the pennies go...

Welcome HellTel. You can't go wrong with the RAH dvd either, but nothing comes close to Joe live. Post your photos too please. You can't post directly, use a site like photobucket or the like and post the links. We'd love to see them. This forum feeds our needs when Joe is far away entertaining others.  smile

Hi and welcome HellTel,

recommendations made: Live from Nowhere... and the RAH are excellent and a wonderful starting point.
But you should start saving your pennies, can't imagine that these two will be the only one you will buy. It's just a matter of time. Welcome in the club of Joe addicts.

Have never seen GM live but from many reviews there seems to be always a reason to be in a pissy mood...

Nice set of photos by the way.  I particularly enjoyed nos 29 and 56, Joe's giving it 100% there.

Re: High Voltage Festival- any idea what time Joe is on?

Maggie - that's a fair few posts since you got home. Good to meet up with you again, sorry had to leave you but I had to find a seat for my aching back. As you know I thought Joe blew everyone away (audience and other bands) with his performance and a great choice of songs. People who had saw him for the first time had big smiles!! I met a guy in the pub afterwards who said that was the first time he had seen him and he was the best of the Sunday. When he said he stayed in Bristol I told him about the October tour you should have seen his face light up. Joe got many more converts that's for sure.

Regarding the set list "When the fire hits the sea" was the 2nd song and "So it's like that" was between "So Many Roads" and "Sloe Gin".

Overall I would give the festival 9 out of 10 for music, atmosphere, company, drinks etc. Oh yes and the weather, still peeling :-) Roll on next year. One criticism though - why the hell was Down n Outz given higher billing than JB? Playing sub standard Mott songs that no one knew.
