Topic: Jeff Beck at Bonn
I've been a Jeff Beck fan for a long time and had really looked forward to seeing him and Joe on the same stage. I think that Joe stated that playing with Jeff was one of his ambitions. Sadly, there was no dual jam at either show in Europe. Now, I've realized that they are so different that it may never happen. Joe has stage presence. He sings. Jeff shreds on his Strat. He plays mostly hard rock. Jeff's only numbers with singing relied on his Bass player, who can't sing, and a canned tribute recording from the Grammy awards with Imelda May singing a multi track of How High The Moon. The sync was so good I have to say the entire song was recorded including Jeff's playing like Les Paul. So, you get an instrumental show that is LOUD, and some tricks with the Strat trying to sing. Good but not what I expected. Joe kicked his A§§ and certainly had the crowd at his feet. Jeff seemed to delay his start for the buzz from Joe to wear down and the crowd to wilt from the heat. JMHO, our group of lady Joe fans walked out half way through Jeff's show saying it was too loud down front and not their type of music.
