Topic: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

What would you recommend for a Reverb unit....?

T-Rex have released a pedal called the Roommate which is supposed to rock

I added a Lex PCM91 into my rig and I am suffering from a lot of latency from it, so I need to find something that can do the verb thing as I am chokka with good delays.

Any suggestions?

Re: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

The best pedal reverb I've ever heard was from Fuchs.  The Verbrator (dumbleator effects loop + reverb) or just their stand alone reverb pedals sound incredible.  I hear that Hermida makes a nice one too.  A lot of guys on TGP rave about the Spring Chicken from Malekko.

'67 and '74 Fender Twin Reverbs, '74 Marshall 1987 lead mkII, Metro Superlead 100. Pedals from TC Electronic, Ibanez, Dunlop, BK Butler, Electro-Harmonix, Fulltone, Maestro/Gibson, Loopmaster switching, VoodooLab, Boss. Gibson and Fender guitars, Dimarzio pickups.

Re: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

For the cost of those boutique pedals you can get a Fender Spring aka the real deal  cool

Cheers

Gits: '03 Gibson Historic R7 Goldtop, '06 Gibson R8 Plaintop, MIJ '62 RI Strat,  and others...
Amps: '99 Marshall 1987x Plexi RI, 1969 Fender Super Reverb

Re: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

The Trex Roommate is an outstanding 'verb and dead friggin quiet. Tube Buffered, low impedance oh yeah.

I totally disagree with these types of pedals vs. Fender Spring Reverb...Cool for surf vibe but you better have a tube buffered Loop- Ugh what a drag to haul one of those beasts around too.

The Demeter offering is on point.

Quinn's new 'verb is nuts too.

Re: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

Best ever 'Spring' reverb type pedal I ever had was a Lee Jackson 'Mr Springgy' (correct spelling). I used it ewith my Fender Bassman and It was awesome!

The little T rex Tonebug is a lovely little device also.

Guitars: 95 Les Paul Standard, Relic Strat,
Amps: 1973 Marshall JMP 50 head and Vintage Modern Cab. I use no effects other than a Cry Baby on occasions.

Re: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

The T-Rex Room-Mate is an excellent little Reverb pedal, with a lot of options.  I have it on my pedal board.  Highly recommended.

Just be aware that it needs a 12V power supply minimum, but you can run it at 18V.  It cannot run at 9V and has no capacity for a battery - just so you know.

Re: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

every band I have ever seen play one of the fender reverb units has it sitting in pillows. They can be a real pain and very noisy if anything moves or bumps it. At least with the pedals you dont have that.  But you wont get the fender reverb either.  TC Electronics makes some over the top effects. I use the Nova Delay and it is an amazing tool. I've heard good things about their reverb pedal.

TRex and TC pedal units are the same- FYI That is to say. TRex OEMs some/most of their pedals from TC.

Good point about the spring reverb on pillows. That made me think of  Mayer's set up which has the reverb unit free floating suspended from Bungy cords which was crazy.

Re: Reverb recommendations- TRex Roommate??

I did not know T REX gets their stuff made by TC Electronics. Thats crazy.  Again I love my Nova Delay.  I use it for my U2 type stuff.

I really don't like the TC Nova Delay- so coloured tonally. I did love my TRex Replica until I bought the Skrydstrup DDL......

So I scored my Reverb unit- I bought one of the small Boss 1/2 rack RRV10's for £40 on eBay. Seemingly they have the RV2/DD3 eprom chip in them so should be very good.

Anyone any experience?
