Topic: Hello, another new fan

Hi, my name is Nickolas Cook, a horror author and editor born and raised in Florida (yes, the redneck part; not the retiree part) and living in Tucson, AZ. with the love of his life and four pugs.  I'm a musician and huge blues, soul and jazz music fan and collector.
I recently caught Joe's "Live at Royal Albert Hall" performance on Palladia and was blown away!  I had never heard of him or his music before that day.  But when I saw Eric Clapton walk on stage to play beside him, I knew something special was going on.  Since then, I've purchased the DVD of that concert and most of his albums.
How the hell did I not know about this guy before?!
Watching him play live was a revelation unto itself.  It truly gives me hope that the blues is going to continue on beyond the saccharine, brainless bubble-gum pop--or, worse, the mock urban menace of pretend hip hop--which the mainstream American music scene has become.

Long live the blues and long may Joe play.

Nickolas,
First welcome to the forum, second if you ever have a chance to see Ryan McGarvey,he's from your neck of the woods,do it.If you like Joe,you will definitely like Ryan.

Re: Hello, another new fan

welcome Nickolas to the forum, so glad you found Joe. It is funny how we come to find him, most now from RAH on Palladia. My son beat me over the head for a year or so before I would take Joe seriously. It is good to have an author here, obviously better writing skills. I might like to give some of your stuff a read, Dean Koontz is high on my list (although not so much for the Family Guy writers), and I like Clive Barker. Hang around and enjoy the company, much info and insight to be shared by a lot of loving people.

Re: Hello, another new fan

Tarus, will do and thanks for the heads up.  I am always looking for local talent for jazz, blues and soul music.  Unfortunately, in Tucson, not a lot to see in those genres of music.

ahsmith, funny you should mention Clive.  I did an interview with him a few years back and he was the nicest guy.  He even showed quite a bit of interest in my first book and asked me to send him a copy, invited me and the wife out to his house to see his artwork and everything.  Great guy.
And thanks for the interest.  If you ever get a chance to read my stuff, let me know what you think.  I won't spam the heck out of the page, but you should be able to find my stuff just about anywhere.  And I'm the editor in chief of a blog/magazine devoted to horror culture and entertainment called THE BLACK GLOVE (http://the-black-glove.blogspot.com/).  And that's all the spamming I'll do here.  I swear it.
Anyways, I am really hooked on Joe's music.  It's so soulful and heartfelt.  I've even added a couple of his songs to my own songlist.

Welcome Nikolas. You've found a lot of kindred spirits here who love all things Joe. A ton of threads stretch in all directions like a spider's web as other discourse takes different tacks. Visit Other Artists to find a wealth of information on undiscovered or obscure talent to share. Off topics is just that. Cruise around and you'll find a lot to enjoy. I've been a horror, SF and fantasy fan since my teens. I'll check your stuff out.  smile

Re: Hello, another new fan

There is another author on the forum. Sean Costello from Canada. Welcome and chime in on any topic you would like. Always good to have some new perspectives here.

Re: Hello, another new fan

I actually have some of Mr. Costello's books.  I particularly enjoyed Captain Quad.
