Topic: Albert Castiglia
Just wanted to give you guys a report on a great band I saw last night in a little club in the southern middle of PA last night, it's the Albert Castiglia band out of Miami, FL. Albert spent several years in the local Miami blues scene before being "discovered" by famous blues harp player Junior Wells (formerly of Muddy Waters' band as well as touring extensively with Buddy Guy) and was hand-picked by Junior to play in his band until Junior's death a year later.
Albert is a fiery player...great vocals, stage presence, perhaps not quite as technically proficient as Joe, but he is a force to be reckoned with. He can play acoustic, electric, slide and sing like the tortured soul of a Delta bluesman. The band is tight and right in the pocket. I'd highly recommend either of his solo releases..."Burn" or "A Stone's Throw". Also, like someone else we know, he's an exceedingly friendly & cool guy. I met him doing a local "all-star jam" in Ft. Lauderdale and chatted with him after the show, told him I played guitar and he told me when he played in PA to bring my gear and he'd let me sit in, without even hearing a note. I figured it was just him being nice, but believe it or not, he was a man of his word. What a blast that was.
You can hear some of Albert's work at http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fu … D=47095465 or check out http://www.albertcastiglia.com/
Don't miss him if he plays near you...definitely an experience.
Keep on rockin' the blues!
